For all of you talking and saying ridiculous things about Connie Wallace you really should understand how the "pageant buisness" works. I am her daughter so I see everything. Number one she NEVER did at-large pageants she won Mrs. NJ with about 60 contestants there. Number 2 and most important, my mother spends day and night working on this pageant. Let me tell you she doesnt even break even. She may not like that I am telling you this but its true. You don't know how many times I have asked her why she is doing this if she isn't making any money. THe reason is because she likes it she takes pride in it and she wants everyone to have a good time. You think the sponsor fee is high. Ladies, I pick up those crowns every regional, every national, I see the bill. The crowns are made in RI where I live just like Miss USA crowns etc. Anyway, my point is, that bill for each crown is more than half of the sponsor fee each. THe hotel to have a room for the regionals is at least 900. I know this because I paid for the New England REgional last year. You know how much I made- about $100. Running your own business is not easy. My mother does it because she likes it not for the money because let me tell you it is not there. Every national pageant my sister and I produce the opening number we fly down to where ever it is we help her in anyway. Now, this is not my business do you think I would do this for free if she was making alot of money? Think about it? Yes, she is my mother but I do it because I know how much she spends. I have my own rent etc to pay for if she was making all this money like you think believe me she would be paying me too. I can't believe I am writing all this. I am just horrified that these few people think this stuff. The whole deal with getting ads and information in on time. She has to do that because unfortunatly people tend to procrastinate that cause her to lose even more money. Who do you think pays for the judges to stay for a week, what she does right there that is like thousands. My mother is the most generous person I know , she always has been she just wants everyone to have a good time. That is all! Last year contestants were asked to book their cruises thru a certain travel agency. Some decided to book other ways thu internet, whatever. The point is because she blocked off a certain number of cabins thu one agency specifically she had to pay for about 10 cabins herself. Smae thing goes this year she paid in full for a block of hotel rooms and if contestants book thru other agencys or do not say they are with the pageant she has to pay for the other hotel rooms. That is why she is being a little more strict. She lost thousands last year and it could happen again. Before she opened this business she was in the travel buisness for 10 years so she understands how this works. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. If you are unhappy with something ask her about it. She will be more than happy to explain it. As far as the prizes go, last year the 5 national winners all got diamond and gold braclets she even got me one for helping. They had thier titles engraved on them. These were very expensive I know because my step father is in the diamond business. The only thing I get paid for is doing makeup and the contestants are not charged twice. They are charged $50 for hair and $50 for makeup. That is one fee for both nights. I have been doing professional makeup for photographers since I was 18. They do not have to do it, it's optional. If you think that is high ask some other people what they have paid for makeup before! Again, if you have any concerns ask her please do not write mean things on here. She puts all she has into this pageant (sometimes I dont know why) because I know she is not making it back, but she does because she loves it.
