Author: Zeara /Zearask/
Subject: Stopping with the song

The short woman sheathed her longsword as she passed the feeding whers and the handler. Bronze Zearask was bloody from muzzle to the first hump of muscle on his overly muscled neck. Zeara rested her hand above her head, resting her fingertips easily on the bronze's neck. One bristling with daggers and paranoia, the other easy-going and go-with-the-flow, they entered the entrance to the cave system.
Zearask stopped. Zeara looked at him, as he bent his leg to drop his shoulder.
Krrrll he murmured softly, turning his bloody head to bring his mouth close to his bonded's so he didn't have to say it loudly. They both knew what a loud voice could do in an unstable cave. But Zeara was surprised at her bronze- Krrrll was 'get on my back, I'll carry you'. She wasn't tired, or carrying much more than the clothes on her back and her weapons. But, there wasn't to be arguing with Zearask tonight- she knew that if she refused, he'd pick her up with his sharp teeth, and throw her over her back like the sacks of blackstone she had trained him to carry. So, she used her strong hands to pull herself to the bronze's back. Now she was so tall that her head almost scraped the ceiling of the low tunnel.

"Why, 'rask? It's not like there'll be people-" she muttered angrily, and cut herself off before Zearask turned his head around to mutter something at her. She had seen a blue, and voices were starting to drft towards her. If she had taken the time to analyze the voices, she would have known that it was a woman and an adolescent boy talking, leaning against the smaller wher. Zearask arched his neck, and rumbled loudly, announcing his prescence to the blue and the two people.

Even high on Zearask's back, Zeara still places a hand on the pommel of her sword, ready to draw it at the first sign of trouble. The steel blade had been tried and found true too many times to count.
Kssst Zearask rumbled, turning his head to Zeara. He pushed at her small foot, and gave the leather a warning nip.
"Stop it, 'rask. That was cute when you were a hatchling," she scolded, swatting him gently on his shoulder. She swung her left leg over the big bronze's thick neck, and slid down on her back to the solidity of the stone floor.
"Journeywoman Zeara and her bronze Zearask, here to report to Master Yima."
A little arogant, but then, she probably deserved it. She did, after all, have a bronze wher. Definitely better than a blue wher. She wondered briefly which one was bonded to the blue, then dismissed it as nevermind. It was not important.

((Don't y'all love her? She's my paranoid girl. Oh well, it makes her fun to post. Hi!))
