A post on this forum from June 6, 2007....

I miss Mike Schiavone. And Phil Bambace. And Al Bodner. And Pat Costello and Gerard Nardelli. I miss Mim Barilla and Eloise Daria and Harry Peyser. I miss Dr. Himber and Dr. Blau and Dr. Polomeni. I miss Nancy Hall and Knobby Wernecke and Pete Jensen's candy store in Crestwood. I miss Mr. and Mrs. Brody and Doc Spencer and Mr. Miles. I miss Big Top and Eldines and the old Grand Union and Blaymore's. I miss Marty's Charcoal Grill, Safeway, the DiRenzo's bowling alley, and Joe Gallo's and Joe Gauzza. I miss the Immaculate Conception bazaar, I miss Albanese's, and Spatafore's. I miss the old Coca Cola bottling place in Tuckahoe. I miss knowing most of the cops, all the store owners, everyone in little league, and hell, almost everyone in town. I miss the old town hall library, teen centers on Friday nights, and school dances. Some gone, some still there, but I'm not, and I can't go back ... nobody can. But it sure was a great place to grow up.
