More girls might consider this pageant if year after year they didn't see the same problems....

1) In town judges--some of these judges know these girls...

2) Contestants competing should not be related to current board members--especially if they pick judges...

3) Obvious favortism is often shown to particular contestants...


This is why Mon. Co. is losing contestants year after year. Wonder why numbers have dropped?

First of all, who is the new Queen Melanie related to that is a board member? The same judge's director chooses them every year. No one but her and the pageant director know who the judges are until the contestants meet them at their personal interviews. As for in town judges...the judges chosen are highly qualified and respectable women (sometimes men). The judges for Mon County were all past pageant or modeling women themselves that judged the best to their knowledge. The director has done a wonderful job since she took over some years back to keep it fun, provide an excellent prize package to her new Queen, and most importantly keep it HONEST and RESPECTABLE! Ask anyone that has ever competed in this pageant and they will tell you that Mon County's crew is great to work with!

Her sister is on the board--just added this year--and she chose judges for the commercial part of the judging. The judges that do interview/pageant night are not the same.

A few years ago, a contestant was told she was no longer able to compete because of family involved with the fair....it was the "new rule."

FIRST OF ALL I DONT RESPECT ANYONE THAT DOESN'T GIVE THEIR NAME.I THINK IT IS SNEEKY..I WOULD HOPE THAT ANYONE THAT HAS DONE MY PAGEANT WOULD ALSO POST A MESSAGE TO DEFEND OUR PAGEANT AND IN DOING SO GIVE NAME AND GIVE ME THEIR SUPPORT. I FEEL REALLY BAD FOR MELANIE DAVIS SHE IS A WOUNDERFUL GIRL AND YOU WOULD MY RICHER IF SHE WAS YOUR FRIEND ...AND FOR THE ONE WHO IS A SOUR LOOSER...I HAVE NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT ANYONE BEFORE, AFTER, OR DURING THE PAGEANT. BUT I CAN SEE THAT SOMEONE HAS GOT TO GET A LIFE! MELANIE WON FARE AND SQUARE...ARIEL IS NOT A BOARD BY JUST A WONDERFUL PAST QUEEN THAT HAS OFFERED EACH YEAR SINCE HER REIGN TO HELP ME IN ANY WAT SHE CAN/ I MENTIONED HER NAME AS PART OF MY COMMITTEE IN THE THANK YOUS BECAUSE SHE HELPED ME OUT OF A REAL PERDICAMENT THIS YEAR. OUR QUEEN 2004 WAS NOT ABLE TO BE THERE THIS YEAR FOR COMMERCIAL COMPETITION AND THE QUEEN IS ALWAYS INCHARGE OF THIS, AND ALWAYS TAKES CARE OF GETTING ALL THAT DONE FOR ME...IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING INTOUCH WITH HER MOM I KEEP MISSING HER. I WANTED TO SEE IF COMMERCIAL WAS TAKEN CARE OF..SHORT STORY...I COULD'NT GET HOLD OF HER SO I WENT TO A PLAN "B". CALL ARIEL DAVIS MY HELPFUL PAST QUEEN.SOOOOOO I CALLED AND EXPLAINED THIS AND SHE ARRANGED THE COMMERCIAL COMPETITON WITH JUDGES SCORS SHEETS ETC AND ALL CAME, TO MY SUPPRISE MRS. BROOKS (BECAUSE OF MY INABILITY TO GET INTOUCH WITH HER) ALSO SHOWED..WITH SCORE SHEETS JUDGES ETC....SO WHAT DO WE DO?? GUESS WHAT? LET ALL JUDGE..EVERYONE WOULD GET THE SAME AMOUT OF POINTS FOR THAT PART..COMMERCIAL. WE HAD SIX JUDGES AND EVERYONE WAS HAPPY...THAT WAS ALL THAT ARIEL DID FOR ME EXCEPT BE AT ORIENTATION AND SUPPORT ME AND BE THERE AS A PAST QUEEN WANTING TO HELP.....*AS FOR JUDGES... MANY OF OUR LOCAL PAGEANTS HAVE LOCAL JUDGES..WE ROTATE OUR JUDGES EACH YEAR.. THIS YEAR'S JUDGES HAVE JUDGED AND PARTICIPATED IN MISS WEST VIRGINIA SYSTEM, MRS WEST VIRGINIA SYSTEM, WEST VIRGINIA FAIRS AND FESTIVALS SYSTEM, WV UNIVERSITY AND FROM A STATE OWNED BUSINESS CORPORATION. THESE JUDGES ARE BUSINES PERSONS, UNIVERSITY FACULTY,BUSINESS EXECUTIVES THAT GET TO KNOW THE CONTESTANT FROM ONLY JUDGES INTERVIEWS. THE JUDGES FOR COMMERCIAL (6) WERE DIFFERENT FROM PAGEANT NIGHT (4)..IT WOULD TAKE ALOT OF MONEY TO BRIBE ALL THOSE JUDGES WOULD'T IT? IT WOULD BE HARD FOR ME TO INFLUENCE THEM AS MY JUDGES DIRECTOR HAS A MASTER LIST OF JUDGES NAMES SHE USES EACH YEAR AND I DO NOT KNOW WHICH ONE SHE SELECTS UNTIL I AM INTRODUCED TO THEM AT OUR QUEEN'S LUNCHEON..I DON'T KNOW ANY SCORES ANYTIME BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT LET ANYONE, EVEN ME , KNOW. MY PAGEANT IS OVER NOW AND I COULD'T TELL YOU ANYONES SCORES....A BOARD MEMBER IS ON HAND AT THE TABULATING TABELE...YOU KNOW WHAT GIRLS I THINK YOU ALL NEED TO MEET ME..I THINK WE HAVE A SORE LOOSER HERE TALKING AND TRYING TO BRING DOWN ALL OUR GOOD WORKS. DO YOU THINK A INSTITUTION LIKE W.V.JR. COLLEGE WOULD INDORSE JUST ANY PAGEANT?.. First and foremost, Annette and everyone involved in this pageant is absolutly amazing!!! They will do anything for their girls!! Secondly, Melanie is such a sweet girl and she did soooo well and earned her title without a doubt! As for the judges, complete professionals!!! We all got judged very fairly!!...and if any favoritism was shown...then I'm pretty sure that there would be NO Queen because I know Annette would never be able to choose just one girl...she would want all of us as her Queens!! I won't just sit here and let people trash my friends! Annette especially! Year to year she makes sure we all have everything we need and takes the time out of running such a busy pageant to truley get to know all the girls! I truley recomend this pageant to anyone....don't let people like this make you hesitate to compete next year! You will have the best time!!! I pomise!! Annette...I love you and don't worry about people like this...you know you have a huge heart and we all love you! Melanie, you deserve the crown that is on your head right now! You did such an amazing job and you are such a sweet girl <3!!

I have had a lot of fun the years I have done this pageant. I usually avoid these forums, but thought I would defend Annette and the fair. She has helped/taught me a lot through the years. A lot is put into this pageant production. Keep up the good work. I am going to miss it/everybody. Good luck in the future and to Melanie at F&F!

IF YOU DO OUR PAGEANT FOR THE FIRST TIME YOU MAY NOTICE OUR KNOWING SOME OF THE GIRLS NAMES. THAT IS BECAUSE WE ALLOW GIRLS TO COMPETE AS LONG AS THEY ARE WITHIN THE AGE REQUIREMENTS. SO WE SAY HI SALLY! I ALWAYS TRY MY BEST TO GET CLOSE WITH THE CONTESTANTS. SOMETIMES I WON'T LET THEY GO AFTER PRACTICE UNLESS THEY HUG ME GOOD BY .. SEEMS SILLY? WELL THAT COULD BE YOUR OPPINION..IT'S NOT FAVORITISM IT'S GIRLFRIENDS SAYING BY BY TILL NEXT TIME. AS FAR AS JUDGES KNOWING THE GIRLS THEY DON'T..WE TRY TO FIND ONES THAT DON'T KNOW ANYONE..
