MISS TEEN WEST VIRGINIA PROMOTES LITERACY AND LEADERSHIP

AT BORDERS EXPRESS, MERCER MALL

Girls Know How® Book Signing, Saturday, July 23, 1pm – 3pm





Bluefield, West Virginia – July 13, 2005 - Miss Teen West Virginia 2005, Veronika Ohlinger, will appear Saturday, July 23, between 1 pm and 3 pm at the Borders Express in the Mercer Mall to encourage girls to follow their dreams, emphasizing the importance of literacy and leadership. As an official spokesperson for the Girls Know How® book she will do a short reading, autograph books and offer career exploration activities targeted to girls ages 8 – 12. “Veronika is the ideal young woman to be our spokesperson and will be a wonderful role model for girls who want to help make a difference in today’s world,” says entrepreneur Ellen Langas Campbell, the author of the series.



“I loved to read as a child, and this is an exciting opportunity to not only promote reading but show girls that they, too, can be leaders,” says Veronika.



A 17 year-old senior honor student at Wahama High School, Veronika is a native of Letart, West Virginia. She is a talented vocalist, and aspires to one day be a broadcast journalist. She is the daughter of Jeff and Lisa Ohlinger.



Girls Know How® books encourage readers ages 8-12 to pursue the careers of their dreams. Each book within the fiction series features a girl presented with a challenge who is encouraged by an accomplished woman at the pinnacle of her career, a character based on a real-life successful woman.
