Hello evrybody . On Monday July 4th . We will celebrate the 229 th birthday of our great Nation . The 56 men who signed the document immediately became outlaws. Subject for the hangman's noose if captured by the British Army. . Most of the men who sign the document paid dearly for their desire for self goverment . 5 were captured and tortured before their death. 2 sons were lost in battle, and many more were captured9 fought and died in battle from wounds received in battle. Many of the 56 men were wealthy farmers , lawyers , or businessmen . Most of these 56 wound up bankrupt and pennyless. Independence cost them everything .
