Subject: George Campbell's health - update 1

From Luther Chandler, July 27, 2005, 8 p.m.:

"I talked to Donna this afternoon. George has two major problems in addition to what he has been through. The infection that they were treating at our reunion has really never gone away. The doctors were treating it and it would go away for a week or so and then come back. Donna kept trying to get the doctors to listen to her. She finally got him to an infectious disease doctor in Jackson. The infection is known as endocarditis, which is an infection of his heart. She carried him to a cardiologist who has offices in Greenville & Cleveland. They did not seem too concerned and also it was determined that he possible had a valve in his heart leaking. She has since carried him to the University of MS Medical Center in Jackson. If not controlled, the endocarditis could go to his brain and cause another major stroke. On Thursday she is carrying him back to Jackson for Nuclear Medicine Doctors to run tests to determine if there are any blockages in his heart. The valve leakage has been confirmed and is serious. The doctors in Jackson advised that they have got to get the infection cleared up before they can do open heart surgery. George has lost some 16 pounds recently. He wants to go home but there is no way Donna can care for him and work, too. She has her hands full. George is in Room 107 of the Swing Bed Unit. North Sunflower Hospital, Ruleville, MS 38771

"Kent: Please pass this on to all of the classmates. If any would like to call Donna (1-662-843-7236) or if any feel that they would like to help these people financially I think it would be great. If any would like to send money (maybe to help her with gas, meals or other expenses in traveling back and forth), they may send a check made out to Donna Campbell and mail to me:

"Please everyone think about George & Donna in your prayers. Thank God for your good health.

"Luther"
