From behind the board
Opinions on current topics from the hosts of Sports & Leisure on the Radio
--For those of you who don’t know me, I am the producer of Sports & Leisure on the Radio on 91.3 fm WBNY, Monday nights at 7:00 PM. My job is to make Shawn Krest and the other Sports & Leisure writers sound good when they’re on the air. Not an easy task. I’m going to bring you a monthly perspective of some of the radio and TV personalities that haven’t had the benefit of my services.
My first victim will be the play-by-play man of ESPN’s Sunday Night Football. During the recent Terrell Owens debacle, you saw a flurry of coverage that was worse than a presidential scandal involving cigars and a blue dress. The night that Eagles suspended T.O, they played the Redskins on Sunday night football. All three announcers gave their opinions, and, in my humble opinion, Mike Patrick took things a little bit too far. He said, “I’m done.” Now excuse me for being oblivious, but what exactly is he done with. Other than being a broadcaster, Mike Patrick has no emotional or any type of said investment in this entire situation. Besides, ever think that maybe TO’s actions, especially speaking out about how he felt he was treated by the Eagles about his 100th touchdown, were justified? Granted the way that he went about it was completely wrong, I think that you can’t really blame Terrell. You need to blame the people who stand behind him.

Next Question
This was possibly one of the funniest moments in NFL history, but I would like to shake the hand of the Philadelphia reporter that asked the following question of Drew Rosenhaus during the T.O apology press conference. “Drew what have you done for him other than get him kicked off the team?” Whoever asked that question deserves the Shawn Krest journalism trophy. If Drew Rosenhaus was such a good agent, why did he avoid eight questions during the press conference by uttering the words “next question?”
