I remember the show well, which according to online sources ran on TNT from the early 1990s until 2000, but its most successful years were probably 1996 to 2000 when Joe Bob Briggs hosted.

Monstervision made for fun viewing, and host Joe Bob Briggs seemed to be having a good time as well. Briggs real name is John Bloom, and he appeared in the movie Casino (1995).

Horror films were the primary focus, but I remember seeing science fiction films like Forbidden Planet (1956) and Soylent Green (1973) as well.

Briggs interviewed several actors and actresses on the show, including Tippi Hedren and Gary Busey, and filmmakers like Wes Craven and John Waters. I particularly remember a long interview with Anne Francis during a Monstervision broadcast of Forbidden Planet back in 1999.

The last Monstervision episode aired in September 2000.

Sounds like it was a good show. I don't recall having access to TBS those years, don't recall what we had. Between cable, a dish outfit, regular broadcast...and myself being ultra busy then, just don't recall. Interviewer Briggs sounded like he spoke to many actors of interest. Do you know if they still run any on some channels these days? Sadly, for me, save perhaps TCM, TV no longer interests, dunno, maybe it's me. But with all the so called reality shows, talk, not much I like. I do miss the good ole days of TV.

Thanks, Tim. Yes, it was TNT. That was a long time ago, but it was fun. I'd stay up in the wee hours and leave it on TNT before recording Bonanza on TBS during the weekends.

I taped many of the Monstervision shows on VHS, but unfortunately my ex-wife recorded over them a few years later. She didn't know I was saving them because I left them on the shelf with the misc stuff that I just taped to watch later, but not to keep.

When TNT was launched, Ted Turner used it to run the pre 1950s MGM, RKO, and WB films he bought. I used to tape a lot of the films that TNT aired.

Today TNT is just another crap network like most of them are. The only good ones left are TCM and FMC
