Subject: Richard Gordon

Richard Gordon, the producer of a number of B-movies in the horror and science fiction genres, died earlier this week at age 85.

Among his best known pictures are Fiend without a Face (1958), The Haunted Strangler (1958) and Island of Terror (1966), the latter starring Peter Cushing.

At least two of his pictures, The Haunted Strangler and Corridors of Blood, starred Boris Karloff.

His late brother Alex Gordon was also a producer of horror films, including The She Creature (1956).

The article at this link includes a photo of Richard Gordon with Bela Lugosi in 1952.

I neglected to mention that Gordon himself wrote an article called "The (Almost) Forgotten Films of Richard Gordon". It appears in Filmfax #125.

Filmfax covers "retro" films and the like, and has been cited over at Rick's excellent "The Music of Flash Gordon" website.

I vaguely recall seeing this man, but don't recall where. As one goes further down the LA obits section, there is a section concerning one Sid Melton. Gee...I recall this fellow all around the TV dial in the fifties, sixties, maybe later. So many of the gifted and talented in the entertainment world leave us day by day. They are remembered in their works which entertained us, made us laugh, cry, perhaps frightened us (in a good natured way), gave us drama, dreams, and fun. Bless them all on their way.
