The House of the Seven Gables (1940) is a real Gothic classic, dark and moody. Based on the Nathaniel Hawthorne novel, it features George Sanders and Vincent Price as the Pyncheon brothers. Margaret Lindsay is the leading lady.

Other Universal stalwarts in the cast include Dirk Foran (from a couple of the Mummy films) and Nan Grey (Dracula's Daughter and Tower of London).

Cecil Kellaway and Alan Napier round out a great group of players.

Even though I have most of the Universal films on VHS and DVDs now, it's still great to see these movies still playing on TV.
