Subject: The Mummy (1932) Poster

I have always found the original poster for The Mummy (1932) to be one of the most striking and iconic from the Universal horror era. Collectors and historians apparently agree, because in 1997 an original sold for $452,000 which was, at the time, the highest price ever paid for a movie poster.

That price was surpassed in 2005 when a poster for Fritz Lang's German science fiction classic Metropolis (1927) sold for $690,000

Vintage movie posters obviously can be quite valuable, and monster movie fans are among the most enthusiastic collectors. Recently a man was sentenced to prison for producing and selling phony posters from such films as Frankenstein, The Mummy and Murders in the Rug Morgue.
