Subject: Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943) in The Huffington Post

Dr Franklin Ruehl, PhD., is a ufologist and cryptozoologist who has appeared on a variety of national television programs.

The August 10, 2012 Huffington Post includes Ruehl's "A Trio of Intriguing New Film Factoids". In it he explains why Bela Lugosi's performance as the Monster in Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man has often been panned over the years.

Lugosi plays the Monster as if he were blind, as he was when Lon Chaney Jr played him in the previous film, Ghost of Frankenstein, and as it was written in the script of Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man. Unfortunately, all references to the blindness were deleted from the picture's final cut, making Lugosi's Monster seem too clumsy, which resulted in the performance being widely criticized.

Of course the explanation for Lugosi's performance as the Monster has been known to Universal horror fans for decades, but it's nice to see it written about in a notable outlet like The Huffington Post.

It's always good to see any of the old Universal Horror films written about in a non-horror publication like The Huffington Post.

I think that if Lugosi's portrayal of the monster had been filmed according to the original script for "Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man" his portrayal wouldn't have gotten so such negativity.
