In reply to: Tim 's message, "Remembering Bela Lugosi (1882-1956)" on 20:38:23 08/15/13 Thu

I've mentioned before about the day Bela Lugosi died and how my father told me about his death and showed me his picture in the newspaper.
I didn't really know who Bela Lugosi was until I saw Dracula a year later on Shock Theater.

What I remember most about that day was my father saying how much he was looking forward to Lugosi's health improving and making more movies.

Thinking about that now, it would have been great if he could have lived another ten years or so and continued on into the sixties making more movies like Boris Karloff had.

Maybe they would have made another film or two together?

I know I would have loved to see Bela Lugosi appear on TV's "Thriller" with Boris Karloff.
But too bad it would never happen.

If Bela wasn't in any of those low budget films from Mongram, PRC, etc. Some of them wouldn't be worth watching.

If "The Devil Bat" had another actor in Bela Lugosi's part, the film would have still been ok, but not as interesting without Lugosi.

I know I wouldn't have re-watched stuff like "The Invisible Ghost," "Bowery at Midnight," "Black Dragons," etc. without Lugosi in them.

Yes, Bela Lugosi had great charisma.

R.I.P. Bela
