a) Bombay Mail 1934 Inspector Dyke

Murder and mystery/adventure aboard a high speed train with Edmund Lowe as Inspector Dyke. A fast moving adventure with notable stars and support on a crack steam train. The usual suspects are eventually rounded up and the case is solved without the train being late. Contains music we hear in Flash Gordon, Universal movies, and a sophisticated Edmund Lowe. Good mystery, colorful characters, interesting whodunnit.

b)Chandu the Magician 1932 Frank Chandler

A hypnotist and yogi played by Edmund Lowe goes against Roxor (Bela Lugosi) who tries to use his death ray to destroy man, but fails. This earlier work compared against Bombay Mail gives some idea of the range of Edmund Lowe, in a somewhat odd, campy role in this flick, but nevertheless enjoyable to watch. Break out the popcorn.

Both of the films above are fine examples of the versatile talents of Edmund Lowe, an actor who, sadly, is nearly forgotten today.

He was also impressive in the dual starring role of The Great Impersonation (1935).

Tim
