Subject: Forbidden Planet star Anne Francis dies

Anne Francis (1930-2011) has passed away at the age of 80. She had a long and successful career in film and television, and is probably best remembered for her role as the lovely Altaira in the science fiction classic Forbidden Planet (1956). Another prominent member of the film's cast was Leslie Nielsen, who died in November 2010.

She was also in two episodes of The Twilight Zone, "The After Hours" and "Jess-Belle", and starred as a private detective in the television series Honey West (1965-1966).

Her other film roles included Bad Day at Black Rock (1954), Blackboard Jungle (1955), The Rack (1956), The Satan Bug (1965), Brainstorm (1965), Hook, Line and Sinker (1969) and The Love God? (1969).

She was a prolific television actress as well, with guest appearances in vintages shows like Route 66, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, The Man From Uncle, Burke's Law, The Invaders and Gunsmoke, and in more recent series like Home Improvement and The Drew Carey Show. Her last television guest role was in 2004.
