"Give me an open sky, give me a ship to fly, give me a song......" A singing ace G-Man we have, belting out a tune on a clipper ship in the air, on the ground sometimes, and on a 78RPM record also. Plus, this man was never without a white shirt and tie, thru 13 chapters, sometimes also wore a sport jacket and his garments were rarely soiled despite, crashes, scuffles, etc...well, maybe once or twice max.

If you like vintage biplanes, clipper type seaplanes, a tad of Mongolia, Jean Rogers, a 1936 (likely) Ford V-8 Deluxe 4 door convertible touring sedan, chases, odd communication techniques, did I say Jean Rogers, adventure, sets from Universal serials (you'll recognize 'em for sure) and monster flicks also, you'll like this serial. Not much in terms of romance, no time....too much going on.

It's one of my favorites in the serial world but so are airplanes..so, I'm biased in a way. But there's some music we enjoy, the thing is fast paced, The bad guy Dragon's identity is a surprise (I'm not revealing, let me know if you really want to know.)

The serial is quite action packed up to about Chap 6, then slows a bit until the last couple or so. You'll recognize some cast from other serials. A few items of interest. You'll hear Flash Gordon buzzing rocketship sounds from a transmitting device, you'll see odd fans in stange places. You'll see cast from people you know from other serials and movies. Best of all, you'll see a wall try to close in to crush Ace in a room and later on, one of the monestary men. (Remember that in one of the Star Wars movies?) This also has an opening for Chapters with panels from cartoons, similar to the later 1938 FG Trip to Mars.

One problem is trying to get a decent dvd copy without much overscan and with decent sound. I think my old VHS tape frankly is the best. In any case, did I mention Jean Rogers is in this? Sorry, she's not playing the part of Dale Arden, but she's still a lovely lady. Let's hear from you, would be curious as to your opinions of this serial.
