The Kino edition is a surviving nitrate print they found in Germany (the original was lost) and a compamy restored it in 1998. A new music score was used, as the original silent film had no sound. I have 2 copies of the Grapevine edition (Universal) with Heinz Roemheld's score. He wrote and recorded 128 music cues for the Universal version. I have the cue list. The film stored at LOC is the only surviving 35mm interpositives of the German film and any prints Universal has in their vault, other than the print used by Kino. Grapevine's is a 16mm print that was in the collection of the late Bob Lee.
