A Happy Early Birthday to Miss Valerie Hobson, born on 14 April 1917. She was lovely, gentle and perfect for her time...

The Perfect Baroness, she could scream like a banshee, faint gracefully and still give Dr. Pretorious a piece of her mind. You are missed, Dear Lady.

She was in Mystery of Edwin Drood, Werewolf of London and The Great Impersonation, all Universal pictures released in 1935. But her greatest Universal film was, of course, Bride of Frankenstein, also from 1935.

She was the perfect Baroness, as joystar notes. Who can forget the flabbergasted expression on the face of Dr Pretorius after Elizabeth tells him "Your visit now is most unwelcome!"
