Subject: Favorite moments in House of Frankenstein (1944)

It's Karloff again, this time as the mad Dr. Niemann, and the vividly striking and beautiful Anne Gwynne as Rita.

It was nice to see Boris Karloff back in a Frankenstein film even though he didn't play the monster.
And this was just a B film. But a quite enjoyable one in my opinion.

Favorite moments:

Dr Niemann (Karloff) choking the guard and demanding his chalk back.

Removing the stake from Dracula.

Dracula transforming into a bat and killing the burgermeister.

Dracula putting Anne Gwynne under his spell.

Police chasing Dracula, and Dracula's death.

Daniel rescuing the Gypsy girl (Elena Verdugo) from getting whipped.

Finding the Wolf Man and the monster frozen in the ruins.

Following Talbot's foot tracks as he transforms to werewolf.

Dr Neimann telling his two captives, Strauss and Ulmann, his brain swapping plans.

Daniel telling Ilonka that Talbot is a werewolf.

Talbot looking in the mirror as he transforms and then crashes through the door.

Ilonka running after the Wolf Man and getting attacked as she shoots him.

Ilonka crawling over and dying on Talbot's chest.

*Daniel finds Ilonka and carries her back to the lab.

The monster throwing Daniel out the window.

The monster carrying Niemann into the quicksand where they both sink.

*Blooper
I only noticed this quick blooper the last time I watched HoF.

When Daniel picks up Ilonka her hands are hanging like they normally would when any newly dead or unconscious person is picked up.

But after Daniel lifts Ilonka higher, you can notice Elena Verdugo's hand holding her dress tight to her hip.

Guess Elena didn't want anyone to get a peek under her dress?

Dan pretty well covers all the best moments in House of Frankenstein. I will watch for the quick blooper he spotted the next time I view the film.

I like both House of Frankenstein and House of Dracula, but always had a slight preference for HoF.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned George Zucco! It was only a tiny part...when Neimann and Daniel essentially "wagonjack" Professor Lampini. George quietly stares down Boris, and then lifts the famous Zucco eyebrow, saying: "We are NOT going to Reigelburg!". Two wonderful character men, giving their all, and turning hash into filet mignon.

I love everyone in HOF, but Boris and George in the same show? HEAVEN!

I prefer HoD myself, but I do like HoF, even if it does royally mess up continuity by flip-flopping Frankenstein and Vasaria.

My fav moment would have to be the pov shot of Lampini watching Daniel approach with outstretched arms.
