This was Universal's last horror film with Rondo Hatton.

"The Brute Man" is a lower rung Universal that was sold to PRC which many say was because Universal felt bad over Rondo Hatton being exploited because of his medical condition?

But despite the sad exploitation of Rondo Hatton, I found the film enjoyable. True Hatton was no actor, but I think as the creeper he made the role believable.

My favorite moments are between the Creeper and the blind girl. (Jane Adams).

Also the scene where the Creeper is trying to by a piece of jewelry, and the shop owner looks in horror as he gets a good look at the creeper's face.
