I merely posted them, but I'll be buying the DVD set just after New Year's Weekend! But I am VERY glad all who participated could enjoy them, thanks to TCM. I don't watch cable TV anymore, but only to record for special airings on TCM as with vintage and Universal films. "Woman in Green"? They must have been sloppy or had some other reason. Public domain titles are allowed to be broadcast on TV. And as usual, Hatton was exploited as the heavy. I look forward to viewing ALL of them in the near future on DVD!!

I've been moreso a casual fan of Rathbone's Holmes. I didn't catch the marathon. For fans, I'm sure it was good. So, why am I posting this, and it's somewhat off thread? I give kudos to TCM for a specific reason. I have cable, it's not cheap, TCM is treated like a premium channel here. You need a box to receive it. TCM is commercial free AND CLOSE CAPTIONED. The latter has become important to me in last couple of years. (Seems my hearing deteriorated and I'm reading the sound on screen. Hearing aid not an option.)

I've come across/have many oldies VHS and DVD, including newer ones without English subtitles and no CC. As our population ages, this can be an issue. Often, and recently on-line, specs are unspecific or incorrect. I've gambled and lost several times. This is unacceptable in our present economic climate. I'm cranking up TV volume/using aux amplification, though it doesn't always satisfy. I applaud those stations, and mfrs of media who provide closed captioning for the hearing impaired. To my fellow members, take care of your hearing. If you're gifting someone, especially if it's a media set, and you suspect recipient has hearing deficiencies, make sure it's Closed Captioned and/or subtitled in the appropriate language if possible.
