I agree with Tim and Dan....great comments. I enjoyed the first Jaws; not so much the sequels though.

The trio of actors in Quint's boat were superb, and the suspense was great. The chum thing was both comical and tense. The shark looked pretty good for pre CG days. I'd like to add one thing...almost an icon. It was spoofed on an old SNL show and elsewhere... that tense, repetitive two noter: da de^, da de^, da de^, da de^, da de^. (Hmm...think I'm losing it guys.)
