Subject: Favorite Universal films with Anne Gwynne

Anne started at Universal and she became one of the best actresses, but in those days, she wasn't appreciated as much since she wasn't in A-films. She had a good career and made great memories in the films she worked.

House of Frankenstein (1944)
Anne is the feisty Rita Hussman in this Universal monster free for all.

Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe (1940)
Anne plays the beautiful and treacherous Lady Sonja in this classic serial, the final entry of the epic Flash Gordon trilogy.

She had many fine roles in pictures for Universal, as well as at other studios.

I agree with Tim on "House of Frankenstein" and Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe. This is the only film too that I've seen Gwynne playing the bad girl.

Broadway

Personally, I loved Annie in EVERYTHING she did. She was much like the great George Zucco in name recognition. All you had to do was see the name "Anne Gwynne" and you knew immediately that you were going to see something special.

My favourite performance has to be "Paula Reed" in WEIRD WOMAN. She was so gentle and vulnerable. Add our beloved "Evie" Ankers to the mix, and the film is delectable!
