Let's not forget the 14 adventure films he made with Andy Devine from 1939-41.

Richard Arlen was quite versatile, and appeared in many films. I especially enjoyed his acting in aviation/war films. The 1953 flick "Sabre Jet" comes to mind, and there is of course the 1927 silent movie "Wings"...a true classic. Interestingly, he was a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Corp during the WWI period, but was not in combat. One can tell though he knew his aircraft/lingo well, and had a passion with airplanes.

He also became quite good at adventure movies, westerns...an all around good actor among his peers of the day. Sadly, not much offered on current TV, except for perhaps a rare showing on TCM or PBS. Gee, come to think of it, I could go for a dvd pack (or a TV marathon perhaps) of Richard Arlen movies... especially, the aviation flicks for the aircraft buff in me. Wishful thinking I guess.
