In 1936 Serial....Vultan tells Ming, during Emperor's surprise visit to the Sky City to obtain his daughter Aura and the earth people, that he would have prepared a banquet had he known Ming would be visiting. Ming responds by telling Vultan that he does not dine with unruly subjects. (One of many digs by Ming.)

"The Universe? I am the Universe!" proclaims Ming in the last chapter of the third serial. But in the end, "Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe", as Zarkov put it.
