I can still remember the day Bela Lugosi died, and I didn't really know who he was yet.
My father was a big horror fan, and Bela Lugosi was his favorite actor.
I only knew of Bela from dad's stories. I'd never seen any of his films yet. The first look I got of Bela was the pictures in the newspapers my dad showed me covering his death.

Back on August 18, 1956 the day Bela died, I was 7 years old, and my father was visibly upset...he had been following Bela Lugosi's stories on the news since the day Bela went in and got out of rehab. My dad was looking forward to Bela making more, and hopefully better films than "Black Sleep" and "Plan 9 from Outer Space," but unfortunately it never happened.

Well a little over a year later I finally got to see Bela Lugosi on Shock Theater in his most famous role...DRACULA.
After seeing the film "Dracula" I became a big Bela Lugosi fan myself.

I always wondered what would have happened if Bela Lugosi had of lived another ten years in fairly good health?

Would Bela have gotten better roles because of the popularity he got from his movies being shown on TV?

I know me and all my friends went crazy over finally being able to see the Universal horror films on TV after hearing so much about them from our parents.

I guess we'll never know how things might have been if Bela Lugosi had lived on after his films became popular on TV?
