I've never seen this one, but unfortunately I don't currently have TCM.

The cast includes Alan Hale (father of "Skipper" Alan Hale Jr) and "The Joker" Cesar Romero.

The broadcast you referred to was a TCM premiere, I taped the midnight (EDT) playing and highly recommend it. The comedy was propelled by Frank Morgan, Reginald Owens and Margaret Sullivan, but the real star was Preston Sturges script and William Wyler's direction.

Happily, this is the tip of an iceberg to come. In January's Classic Images, TCM's Robert Osborne tells editor Bob King that when TCM's current lease of Columbia Pictures from Sony expires, Turner will debut a ton of Universal and Paramount classics. Many will be making their broadcast premiere.

Bill,

Can you post the URL on here for me? Thanks.

Hi Rick,

the article is from their monthly Classic Images and is not available online: http://www.classicimages.com/

Only additional info I left out was the length of the current lease TCM has with Sony for their Columbia library is four years. The article does not specify when that expires, King only says tape 'em now.

Past issues are reasonably priced, and many past articles are available at their web site. Hope this helps some.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the information. Sounds like the contract expires this year. Paramount and Universal have larger film libraries than Columbia. I recorded 'The Good Fairy' last Saturday as you did. They have a few other films that will air on Sat, the 11th. I'll post them later.
