I did a mini review not long ago. Please see Flash Gordon Forum section, "Bombay Mail..Mini Review" post of 08/14/07. Maybe add some more music titles like '34s Black Cat, 30s White Hell of Pitz Palu, some others. Mail is a kind of fast paced whodunnit, sometimes confusing, but it comes together at the end (usual gathering of suspects). Kind of stock formula for such fare. Hey! If you're a train buff, Mail is a bonus.

The tape was from a nostalgia type outfit. Video was cleaned up. While not superb, I judged pix quality to be satisfactory, for me anyway on my older equipment. Same for sound. I think one becomes accustomed/tolerant to things especially with older B&W movies. Consider also persons own vision, hearing, media price, desirablity, electronics on hand, lots more. I sometimes find costly DVDs A/V cleaned, but sometimes audio volume on low side, yet at other times, no! I like idea of having English subtitles on just in case (we didn't have 'em much on VHS tapes).

Maybe it boils down to how much you like something, what you're willing to pay, frequency of use, you name it.
