Subject: Alert!~ Universal Horror Classic Archives Limited DVD

I didn't catch this until yesterday. The studio has honored the requests of the fans by issuing a limited edition DVD set of these films on October 1, 2007.

The Black Cat ( 1941 )
Man Made Monster ( 1941 )
Night Monster ( 1942 )
Horror Island ( 1941 )
Captive Wild Woman ( 1943 )

The DVD sets are literally OUT-OF-PRINT as of today. Amazon.com has 18 of them left. Price ranges $30-50. When they are gone--they are GONE for GOOD! I ordered mine a few minutes ago and it was in-state, too. Picture and sound quality is pristine and most of the movie trailers are included.

The studio will be issuing new titles next year, so Barin, Torch and anyone else who submitted the DVD petitions over the last few years with me--keep doing so! I'll get back with you on that sometime this week. They're listening and it's not over yet.

Got mine faster than anticipated! This is not a review, only some comments. Just had to watch The Black Cat ('41 version), 1 of 5 movies in 2 disc set. I always enjoyed the '34 version with Lugosi and Karloff.. the acting, general feel, music (much used in Flash Gordon). I vaguely recall seeing '41 version awhile ago when such movies were often on regular 'ole TV fright night shows, eg Chiller.(Remember?)
Before anything, I quickly peeked thru the other movies; seems pix quality great overall and sound likely as best as we'll get. Well guess life experience (yeah, duh, as in gettin' older!) intervenes and ya catch somethin' you didn't before. Well you FG/Horror-Monster Drama crossover fans out there, Lady Sonja plays a lead role in this movie..a charming woman named Elaine! Ha!..'34 Black Cat had FG music; '41 had Anne Gwynne!

Mine arrived yesterday. Perfect condition. Good packaging and the dvds are fine! I like the plot synopsis they wrote up!

I got mine at Best Buy for $19.99! My understanding was this collection was a made-for-Best Buy special. I could be wrong; but they did have the best price.
