In reply to: Informer 's message, "Narrow-minded politician cancels Miss Universe 2005 public appearance." on 14:08:29 07/18/05 Mon

Anyone who read the article published in today's Toronto Star would've have read that Mayor David Miller failed to greet Natalie during her recent appearance in Toronto.
She was greeted mostly by male city officials and was treated more like a visiting school girl than anything else.
We all know that Miss Universe contestants can't get enough key chains!

But, let's be honest and I'm going to be really candid here.

Natalie, as much as I am proud of her (like the rest of Canada I'm sure), she won Miss Universe. And, as much as we would love to think it's a big deal, in Canada it isn't.
We need to accept this!

Plus, the article stated that Mayor David Miller had a previous commitment. This is fair, we all have families and family commitments, by not greeting Natalie, it won't effect the price of the TTC for the average commute. So truly it wasn't an A1 pressing issue. It wasn't like Natalie was shunned, discouraged or abandoned on her visit back to Toronto.

The public rallied. She was celebrated.

Natalie worked hard, she earned her title. She has the backing of a very powerful organization and according to the Toronto Star article she felt no ill will. So I say:
Let Natalie and MUC fight their own battles.
She is far from helpless.

What can we do as the pageant community? Continue to support our local pageant industry, support Natalie, make requests to local media and not to mis represent yesterdays news items.

Informer, Creating propaganda that isn't all together correct isn't positive.

Give Negative, Get Negative.

the end.
