Dancing With The Stars

As six couples learned, surviving on a remote island or getting hired by Donald Trump are a piece of cake compared to dancing the rumba or the quickstep on live TV with a professional dancer. That's what six celebrities had to do last night on the new reality TV show "Dancing with the Stars." And when the music stopped, one couple was voted off the dance floor.

"Dancing with the Stars" is the hottest new entry in the world of reality TV.

More than 13 million people tuned in last week to watch celebrities make their most graceful attempts at ballroom dancing. Reality TV hasn't seen that kind of big summer draw since the debut of Survivor.

The program mixes the fluid & sensuous movements of waltz, cha-cha & rumba with recognizable contestants - ranging from former heavy-weight champ Evander Holyfield to Seinfeld's John O'Herley to 80's boy band icon Joey McIntyre, and covergirl Rachel Hunter, Trish Sutter of "Bachelorette" fame and General Hospital's Kelly Monaco.

Each celebrity contestant is paired with a Ballroom Dancing professional who does his or her darndest to make the couple's movements appear effortless.

And last night in a live competition, home viewers and a panel of experts sent Trista & her partner packing before they all joined in one last dance.

"Dancing with the Stars" returns next Wednesday night at 9:00 p.m. here on ABC7. They'll be dancing the jive.
