I did hear they are going to start up season 5 in July and not September so.. woo hoo! Except then we have to wait from September to January to see the second part of the season. Oh well.

Anyone hear any tidbits? I know Ronan gets a hair cut! YEAH!!!! Carson is still around.. they unfreeze him ala Han Solo. Sam is leaving, the Wimpy guy takes her place.. can't remember his name. Anyway, I'm sure all of this is old news to most of you.

Still haven't seen an episode of Amsterdam but maybe one of these days!!! Whenever I get a chance to sit and watch t.v. I end up putting on my Brisco DVD's. LOVE that show. What a shame they canceled it. Oh well.

Odd Question Day: I watched the SG-1 episode 'Chain Reaction' (where the NID blackmail Hammond into retiring and Jack enlists Mayboune's help) on a Sci-Fi repeat and at the end of the ep in Hammond's office both he and Jack were wearing little black tubie things (for lack of a sophisticated vocab word) on their shirts. Jack was wearing his on his t-shirt collar, and Hammond his on his pocket. Does anyone know what they are for? I haven't seen them on the show before or since, and I even looked up the Air Force's website under uniforms and I turned up zilch-o. I'm kinda curious about it. - If you look at the guys down by the gate just before the part where you see Jack & Hammond with the gizmos, you will see that they are using geiger counters all over the surface of the gate. Back in January I got the Verizon package deal. One of the tv channels I get now is the Pentagon Channel..............yup there is one. Last night I was flipping channels and stopped there cause they were talking about Bellasaurus Productions. Then they mentioned Jag and NCIS...the piece was about how the military helps tv shows get their facts straight and how they participate in other ways . The last part of the piece was how they work with the Stargate people. They showed Amanda in a flight suit and sitting in a jet and Ben Browder getting to go up with a member of the Thunderbirds team and said that the Navy helped with the part in Ark of Truth where a nuclear sub is seen with the conning tower sticking up through the ice at the Artic Circle. They also talked about how the people from NCIS try whenever possible to use actual military facilities and personnel and mentioned how some of the "extras" in some scenes are actually sailors or marines. It was very interesting.

    - The kid was Omar's grandson and he had to go somewhere so he shaghai'd John into babysitting. John went back to the crime scene because he was looking for a code book the victim had been using when he was writing notes in the code. The ambulance thing relates back to the first ep. John had a curse or a spell put on him about 370 years before that he could not die and would not age until he found his "soul mate". He and his partner were chasing a perp down into the subway tunnels and Ms Soul Mate got off the train...and John collapsed. He was taken to the hospital. Later he was reviewing various tapes from the subway stop and the area's outisde and he saw the ambulance but did not see all of it's license plate number. Michael Shanks and Claudia Black courtesy MGMMarch 11th is D-Day for Stargate: Ark of Truth, the eagerly awaited made-for-DVD movie that ties up the storylines left dangling when the Sci Fi Channel cancelled the longest running series last June. "We hadn't really resolved the story," says producer-writer Robert C. Cooper, "so we felt a responsibility to wrap things up in the way they did with Farscape, when it came back as a miniseries."

TV Guide got a peek at the $7 million feature-length DVD-movie, and we're happy to share that it's all about SG-1's search for a fabled weapon that's reportedly the only chance to stop the Ori from taking over Earth. As if chief Ori Adria and her ilk don't provide enough danger, a creepy crawly from the past threatens the team on the USSS Odyssey from within. Keep your eye on guest star Currie Graham, the ubiquitous actor most recently seen on Men in Trees and Boston Legal. (And, yeah, Ben Browder fans, Lt. Col. Mitchell takes plenty of lumps.)

Although Ark concludes the series, at least one more 'Gate movie is just about finished. Continuum, which was made with Ark last spring, is a stand-alone story set in the Arctic. Richard Dean Anderson is back for this alternate time-line venture, where no Stargate program exists and the long-vanquished Goa-uld rule. "Hopefully these will demonstrate that we still have SG-1 stories to tell," Cooper says. That means more DVDs could be on the way, though there are no deals yet.

Sci Fi hasn't signed off on Stargate: Universe, Cooper and co-producer Brad Wright's third franchise entry, which will have a new setting yet allow for crossovers from the other series. In the meantime, Atlantis will be back for Season 5 this summer (probably July), and SG-1's Michael Shanks will make a two-episode visit mid-season. — Ileane Rudolph

O.k. I have to admit I very nearly didn't watch this episode. And then.. wonder of wonders... it was GREAT. Too sleepy to post, but just wanted to say HOO RAY. ALso, next week.. CARSON COMES BACK!!!! I can't wait to hear how they 'splain this one. I still think SOMETHING happened when he was on the planet with the Wraiths. Remember Micheal had him strapped down in the tent... and then.. it just shows the team showing up and he is rescued. How come Michael didn't kill him? I think they switched Carsons THEN. - Man, that episode was AWEsome!! We all wanted a shoot 'em up, and we certainly got one, and I think Sheppard definitely got his Kirk on in this one. And I loved, loved the comic bits scattered thruout - Teal'c and Ronan checking out the Three stooges, Ronan tickling Sheppard, Mckay spazzing out at the two scientists as only McKay can spaz. And you know, TPTB really had us fooled since they showed a clip of Ronan's interview for the preview and little else; I think everyone probably thought 'ugh not another bore'. Nice subterfuge. I sure would have cut 45 other scenes FIRST before I messed with this one. I've wondered for a long time exactly WHAT the powers that be are thinking. Answer: Not much. Sigh. All you have to do is watch a season 4 ep of Stargate and it becomes glaringly obvious the contrast in quality of writing and stories from that show to this. Oh boy. Shame on me. But.. oh well. I made the mistake of giving someone a ride and was boxed up in the car with them for about 20 minutes......he should have stayed home!. I have been battling his flu for nearly 2 weeks. Cost me a day and a half from work and a pile of OT. You veg under the couch blanket and start to get your enegy back and think you're past the worst of it but you're exhausted in no time. Not to mention the stupid cough that seems to be hooked to your insides by an elastic band. Take care my friends and stay well!

- Too late. I've got it and so does my family. I've had it since LAST Monday and am still utterly exhausted and hacking up a lung. This is the most sick I've been and NOT been in the hospital. First of all, you MUST have "Captain Kirk" as part of the main story. Second of all, I found it more then a bit crude... and really didn't appreciate some of the "conversation." I was, however, glad they let Rodney go back to being a bit of a hero again. Too bad they didn't let that all go out the window when he was proposing to Katie. All in all, it wasn't what I'd hoped for and was the first time I considered leaving before it was over. Gosh. Somebody QUICK type something positive! LOL!

- Well, gosh I actually LIKED the episode! (how's that for positive,LOL!!) I found it quite entertaining, and I sat eagerly thru the breaks to see what would happen next. And, you know, Cowgirl Carter lassoing that grappling hook onto the roof on one try was priceless. Yee-haw!! Especially after Rodney boasted that he could do it. I was, however, confused at the idle conversation, not at its actual content, but....these folks make a living a long way from Earth, right? How would they know some of the people that they were referencing? Simon Powell?(that was one of the names, right, I forget). Highlight to read from GATEWORLD:

"We are still anxiously awaiting SCI FI Channel's press release announcing the cast of Stargate Atlantis for the show's fifth season, which begins filming later this month. That release has been pushed back to tomorrow (Tuesday), according to executive producer Joseph Mallozzi (blog). But tonight we can squash a few rumors and speculation, thanks in large part to the executive producer.

The items below are tagged as CONFIRMED, DENIED, or -- if we don't have solid confirmation either way -- RUMOR.

CONFIRMED: Amanda Tapping will no longer be a regular cast member in Season Five.
SCI FI announced and Tapping ("Samantha Carter") confirmed to GateWorld this week that she will star in 13 episodes of the new fantasy series Sanctuary, which goes into production in March. Stargate wanted Tapping back and made a competitive offer, but she finally chose to pursue the new series, for which she also serves as an executive producer (interview).

Tapping will make a still unspecified number of guest appearances in Season Five.

CONFIRMED: Atlantis will get a new commander.
As Tapping departs the show, Colonel Carter will also depart Atlantis. Mallozzi has told fans that the new base commander will be a "familiar face," someone we have met before and not a brand new character. This actor will be a regular, full-time cast member -- and, in fact, he or she made the short list when the writers were considering Weir's replacement a year ago.

DENIED: Sheppard will be promoted and command Atlantis.
Mallozzi confirmed today that "there has never been any discussion about promoting Sheppard and his leadership responsibilities as team leader will remain unchanged."

RUMOR: The new commander will be Colonel Caldwell, Colonel Ellis, Richard Woolsey, General Hammond, General Landry, ad infinitum.
There is understandably a great deal of speculation as to who will be taking charge of the Atlantis base. So far they can be chalked up to educated guesses. There are certain characters who have been up for the position in the past within the show's universe (Caldwell, Woolsey), and certain actors which the producers have expressed a lot of positive feelings about working with in the past.

What does seem clear, based on Mallozzi's comments to date, is that one of the show's current main characters (notably Sheppard or McKay) will not be promoted to base commander. The new guy or gal will be a new addition to the main cast.

DENIED: The writers are bringing back Torri Higginson.
Well, yes and no. She won't rejoin the cast as a series regular and will not be commanding Atlantis again, but the actress behind Dr. Elizabeth Weir will return as a guest star for an on-going story arc in Season Five. Check out the last 60 seconds of "Be All My Sins Remember'd" for more on that.

DENIED: Rachel Luttrell is leaving the show to spend time with her new son.
Luttrell's ("Teyla Emmagan") pregnancy was written into Season Four, and she delivered her son late in 2007. But don't expect Teyla to stay on the sidelines: "Rachel remains a series regular and an important part of the team," Mallozzi said. "Two of the first three episodes see some major developments for the character."

RUMOR: A new character named Alison Porter will be added to the cast.
Captain Porter, described as a 28-year-old, fiery new addition to Atlantis's military contingent, will be introduced in the Season Five premiere, "Search and Rescue." It is not known yet who will play her, and whether she will be a regular cast member or a recurring guest star. Mallozzi did confirm today that Porter will not be assigned to Sheppard's team.

The manner in which the character is introduced in the episode suggests that she is a significant new addition (not a one-off guest, or a female Lorne), but the number of already-confirmed regular cast members make it less likely that she will be quite at that status.

RUMOR: Paul McGillion will return as Dr. Carson Beckett.
The good doctor returns in the upcoming Season Four two-parter, "The Kindred." Hint after hint dropped by Mallozzi indicates that the Scotsman with a heart of gold will return to recurring status in Season Five ... but of course, this has not been confirmed, and won't be until the press release is issued.

Well then, what about Jason Momoa and David Hewlett?
Both are currently expected to return. Momoa recently cut off his long dreadlocks, which Mallozzi has discussed in terms of the challenge of character continuity at the beginning of Season Five. (The dreads will be painstakingly reattached for a few episodes, after which Ronon will no doubt get a haircut of his own.)

Nothing specific has been said about Hewlett's return, but McKay remains a central part of the Atlantis team and appears in the script for the first episode.

In sum, our expectation on the eve of the press release is that the main cast of Stargate Atlantis for Season Five will include Joe Flanigan, Rachel Luttrell, Jason Momoa, David Hewlett, and a new cast member playing the new commander of Atlantis. We anticipate that Jewel Staite ("Jennifer Keller"), Paul McGillion, and perhaps the actress cast to play Alison Porter, will be recurring.

Both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis have had either five or six regular cast members each season, and making Porter (or Staite's character, for that matter) a regular would probably mean bumping that number to seven.

Note that the distinction between "regular" and "recurring" does not necessarily affect the number of episodes in which an actor will appear. (Series regulars appear in the show's opening title sequence.) As a regular Tapping appears in 14 of this season's 20 episodes; as recurring McGillion appeared in some 16 episodes in the first season, and about the same after he was made a regular. Jewel Staite was recurring in Season Four but was widely treated as a full-fledged cast member in the show's promotional efforts, including cast photos.

Again, remember that everything here is based on educated speculation from the evidence currently available. Stay tuned to GateWorld for the official news as soon as SCI FI Channel announces it!

O.k. I'm just going to concentrate on the Rodney storyline this time. My thought is... the writters let the character down on this one. Yes, Rodney's supposed to be a wimp, a hypochondriac, a whinner, etc. BUT.... they've spent four seasons building him up and making him stronger. Yes he whines and complains BUT.. he also saves the day by ... drum roll please... showing some back bone and more then a little nerve under unimaginable pressure. ALso... remember, he's a scientist, not a soldier. Yet.. he's gone on to fire guns to kill and or hold off wraith attacks, fly ships to ward off... space rocks, offer up his own life (in a most horrible way to die) in place of his sisters, etc. I think Rodney has proved he in fact does have some gumption and character. Last night... they made him out to be just an idiot. I was let down by it. He's not even my favorite character.. in fact the Rodney saves the day story lines are wearing a bit thin. But.. I thought the writers did a 180 with his character last night. They played up all his faults and weaknesses to the nth degree, and took away any and all of his "we can fix this" mentality. I suppose because he didn't have his computer??? Still, laying on the floor and "dying" was just silly and imo no longer in character for Rodney. O.k. That's about as deep as it gets for a Lu comentary! LOL! BTW, my thought was when Katie said, "Goodbye," she meant so long to any relationship beyond platonic. My husband and son of course just thought it meant, goodbye, see you tomorrow at lunch, all is well. I disagree. I think it was the end for their relationship. On to the rest of the gang.

Ronan and Dr. Keller. Oh MY! I like them together. I have to say I did not think the oxygen tanks were going to work. Did enjoy the jaws references. Oh... and... didn't I tell you? THey hired that woman JUST to keep Ronan in bandaides. I mean... EVERY show he is mangled in some way.

Sheppard and Teyla. GLAD they finally had a BIT of a talk. LOL over the pregnant lines re "in the movies the pregnant lady always goes into labor" etc. Oh.. and who else here thought for a moment Teyla was going to try to climb the building???? GACK!!! Oh and Sheppard saves the day!!!! Oooopsss... but now.. he's made things WORSE. Sigh. Poor boy.

Zelenka and Carter.. lots of fun. Loved Z going thru the ducts.

Major Lorne. Oh you know.. I really LIKE Major Lorne. I'd love to see a lot more Major Lorne screen time.

- I think WMC is on at 9pm, unless they changed the timeslot very recently. It's actually a pretty good show. It's about this group of four women pals who are in different aspects of law enforcement and every week they get together to solve a crime, and then celebrate with margaritas at the end. It's kind of like Law and Order meets Sex and the City, 'cuz they're always trying to set up Angie's character on blind dates. Catch it some time. And I've only seen just one ad with Teal'c, and from the angle the ad took, he seems like a bad guy! I watched it and went, Huh? But I don't have any spoilers, so we'll just have to see. - The more I watch, the more I appreciate Carter's role in this universe. Now that she's a 'space administrator', we get to see (slightly) different sides to her. - I was thinking the EXACT same thing when I read this; there was a Star Trek:TNG episode that had the character Q, played by John DeLancie (the NID(?)baddie in SG1), ask Picard what he'll do now that he's "shuffled off the mortol coil" in "Tapestry",the one where the capt'n thinks he's dead but really not. Now, anyone want to talk about last weeks Atlantis.. or this weeks upcoming show???

I thought last weeks was pretty good. Rodney seems to be growing a backbone. Liked the interaction between he and his sister and he and Sheppard, particularly when he told him he was in his command and, "No." Also... and write this down, enjoyed Ronan. He definitely had some cute parts this week. All in all a good episode. AND... AND... lands a goshin, it was WEBB! LOL! I'm sorry, but whenever I see him in anything, I think of him on JAG. I was waiting for him to say his wife's name was MAC.

Next week's ep looks good. I read (highlight to read) all the characters have replicator counterparts in next weeks ep. I wonder if this is the one (and how) they bring Carson back. I've read multiple times that at the end of last season they "showed us" how they were going to do it... but that no one picked up on it. Perhaps this is what they were talking about. However, having said that, all the other stuff I've read say they are bringing Carson back for real, in the flesh, not a double or twin or in AU. So... we shall see what comes.

Anyone else what to share their thoughts and feelings???

- Interesting. I liked Shep's line towards the end----to much info at once. I wonder if that may be an allegory to the Information Age? True, a person's Free Will can always change any future prediction, like when Sam decided not to open fire. She just thought, "Unh-unh, I ain't going there", or something Sam-ish to that extent. It's like the show wanted to prove how far she's come as a leader, which, after 10+years, I would hope is considerable. And I think Shep and Sam work pretty well together. Similar sensibilities. - I am sooooo tired from cleaning and cleaning and cleaning and getting ready for the white glove test from the in-laws on Thursday. Sigh. It is not EASY to pass the white glove test when you homeschool three children and have so many farm animals... half of which enter your home on a fairly regular basis... that you've given up countng them. SIgh. PLUS I got the brilliant idea to rearrange my FURNITURE before they came... including the piano. That was one of those BAD ideas.

I like it. I would have liked it more if they guys were in it, but... still.. thought it was a pretty good ep. Wish they had made the new doctor not quite so...wimpy.. but, she got her act together by the end of the show. Boy, howdy, Teyla sure did a lot of whup up in this one. And then of course they drop the bomb at the end of the episode. Highlight to read. Spoilers ahead: Well, I guess this is how they explain... and leave out the "daddy." He's been taken by the wraith and is conveniently dead... maybe. O.k. Here's my story prediction. Daddy is gone. She turns to Shep. THey end up in love, and... original daddy shows up. Angst insues. SIgh.

So, does anyone else have any thoughts and feelings they'd like to share????

- Yup, yup, yup, I liked it too. It's funny that we were just talking about how Atlantis has been pretty wimpy lately and along comes an ep like this, which turned out to be pretty good. I liked the interplay between the two women-one wild at heart and quite willing and able to open up a can of whup-a@@ on the bad guys, the other, well, being a scaredy-cat; but it's not like she's had any experience with something like that. She did okay, considering. It was as if she was the lone voice of reason to keep Tey'la from getting all wild and feral. I wonder who the guy they saved really was? - I liked it. Kinda wondered how wimp-doctor made it to Atlantis in the first place. I mean didn't the psych profile catch the wuss factor? Anyway, hope it will be a good episode. I wasn't all that thrilled w/ last weeks. Sort of much ado about nothing. I watched a season 3 episode of the original Stargate this past week and good golly. It was SO much better then any of the eps I've seen thus far this year on Atlantis. Not sure why they can't seem to get that.... feel that SG grabbed right away, but... There is a drastic difference. Still, I enjoy Atlantis. Just keep hoping for better. It seems like in 4 years they should have hit their stride by now. I just don't get that feeling. Maybe because they keep dumping cast members???
