  A friend of mine (and maybe some of yours), AeroGirl, has a Stargate Atlantis novel coming out in April! It's called "Stargate Atlantis: The Chosen" If you click on the link, you'll be able to preorder it at Amazon.

  Book Description
  The Stargate Atlantis team encounter a society where high priests of the local cult are able to protect the society from attacks by the Wraith by using technology left behind by the Ancients. However, the genetic ability to use the weapons has faded over successive generations, leaving the people increasingly vulnerable to attack. With the Wraith growing ever bolder in their attacks, the team must decide whether to inoculate the priests with a gene therapy which will restore their abilities, and also decide whether or not to withhold the therapy from the rest of the population in order to shore up the dominance of the high priests.

  They say SCI FI has switched the Stargate Monday Marathons to theme nights instead of just running them in order. Sam and Jack night is April 13th! Woo Hoo!!! I'm running out to buy some popcorn and get ready! LOL!
  
  I've thought of a few other theme nights they could have:
  
  Atlantis:
  1) SEAMONSTER Night (I mean for crying out loud!)
  2) Sheppard and (insert favorite actress here) Shipper Night
  3) Rodney saves the day night!
  4) Ronan/Conan CUTS HIS HAIR night.
  
  Stargate:
  1) Sam and Jack's lavish wedding
  2) Secret home video of Kat accousting poor "Jack" in the infamous hallway and subsequent "rescue" scene.
  3) What?
  4) Jack decides to move to Atlantis and takes Sam with him
  night

  • SG1 was okay, but I'm with you, Luoodles, I'm so over the Camelot story. And where's Sam? Did she get zapped out by some of the Ori or is she still hanging out at the edge of the gate slowly drifting out in space. What was with Zala at the end? Was that contractions making her face scrunch up or was it some feeling of impending doom as she saw her own universe? I wish they'd actually get a scary bigbad again, these Ori are just annoying.     • Atlantis was a little better. But once again, our people are just too darn trusting! After all the crap they've been through (mindmelds, transfer of consciousness to another body, wraith attacked), they'd be a little more cautious about accepting someone else's word that "it's all good" before opening their home and computers! And while it was funny to have Rodney think he's da bomb with da brain for the last two seasons, I'm getting annoyed that even after all the times he's been proven wrong, he too keeps thinking nothing could fail because *he* did it. The ending, though, was a good cliffhanger. One worthy of the Stargate label. The question in my mind is, are the Ori and the Wraith going to work together killing off our universe or are they going to end up canceling each other out in pursuit of our demise?       • Galactica was by far the best of the three Sci-Fi Friday shows ... and this is the last time we'll have that since BSG is going to be premiering in October, not July. With a 90 minute finale, there was enough story to keep me interested throughout. It was hysterical to see Dean Stockwell reprise (and reprise) the role of the priest we met last week. Some of his lines were the best of the episode. I certainly hope we haven't seen the last of him. The twists in the final 30 minutes were amazing. There's a lot of question left to be answered next season, but not so many as to warrant a "ARGGGGGG" for leaving us hanging all season and THEN until the premiere.   • The one that came with the 8th season set was 44 minutes long, the replacement DVD was supposed to be approximately 75 minutes long (taking into account the lack of commercials it translates into 60 mins of edited Threads on the original disk and the original 90 minute episodes on the replacement disk). I got my set and immediately lent it to a friend, so I don't know for certain what's on or not on the replacement disk. It SAYS it's Volume 3 Disc 5 but it PLAYS Volume 1 Disc 1. ARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!! Supposedly this was a REAL DVD... not a copy rip off... but... It looks like it's the later. Sigh.   Out of the blue, Claudia Black's vixen Vala returns to Stargate SG-1 -- with child

  Claudia had a secret, and she didn't know how her bosses would react. Earlier this season, the Australian actress bust onto Stargate SG-1 as saucy intergalactic thief Vala, a bodacious babe who immediately clicked with viewers. The former Farscape siren vamped it up while series regular Amanda Tapping was on maternity leave tending to her infant daughter. But then Black herself announced, "I'm pregnant."
  
  "I was so worried the producers were going to be disappointed," says Black, who hoped to return for more episodes. As it turned out, Black's pregnancy couldn't have come at a better time. Evecutive producer Robert Cooper told her he'd been toying with the idea of bringing Vala back this winter, and using pregnancy as a way of creating a new villian.
  
  Black, who gave birth to a son in December, "adds a new dynamic to Stargate," Cooper says. "as an alien outsider, she creates a different chemistry among the team." Most notably: the Tracy-Hepburn banter-fueled relationship between Vala and scientist Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks). "I don't think the teasing will ever stop," Black says. "He's such an easy target."
  
  The actress, who'll joing her former Farscape love interest Ben Browder as a regular on SG-1 next season, says it's fun to play the "naughty inner child" for a change. "Vala's grating, frustrting, irritating, but she's equally delightful. On Farscape, I was the tragedienne. Here I'm the comedian."
  
  But comedy's in short suppy in this week's episode, which finds Vala trapped in a village run by religious fanatics. When a recently celibate VAla learns she's mystyfying with child, she marries a kindly local man (Tim Guinee) after folling him into believeing he's the baby's father.
  
  "It's an interesting turn for Vala -- she genuinely cares for the man," Black says. "She does something wrong, but she must in order to survive. Kind of like Jessica Rabbit -- I'm not bad, I'm just born that way."

  When I was very young an evil older cousin told me the story of a woman waking up one morning to find a bubble-like bunp on her face. She thought nothing of it at first believing it to be a pimple, but though it grew large it never came to a head. After a while she decided to burst it. When she started to squeeze on the bubble, it burst and hundreds of baby spiders came out and swarmed all over her screaming face. Thus began my healthy fear of all creatures with more than four legs, a fear that lasts to this day. I felt creepy crawlies on my skin all night long. Thank you Stargate. Don't remember much else from the show except screaming "RUN!!!"
  
  On Atlantis, why did they ever trust that the whatchamacallit was operational? And maybe I'm jaded from watching too much 24, but in my book I'd kill off any and everyone who knows that Atlantis still exists. I mean they don't trust those people anyway and for good reason, right? Call me heartless, but it would be a case of "Better You Than I". Okay, okay, I take it back - but you bet can your bottom dollar this is going to come back to haunt them. Oh, and even though I figured that none of my favorites were going to perish, I was still on the edge of my seat for most of the episode....but then again that could have been because of the bugs hiding under the couch.

He lifted her up to toss her in the air and she came down hard on her knee.   • The team wearing leather episode??? ROTFLOLOLOL!!!!! I'm really looking forward to tonight's Atlantis episode (and now I guess Stargate too... I mean... if they're going to be wearing leather PANTS and all...ROTFLOL!). Anyway, Atlantis SURE SOUNDS A LOT LIKE STAR TREK tonight. Remember the episode when they found these pod beach ball things and there were folks consciences inside...   Some people watch the Super Bowl just for the commmercials. Are Stargate fans in for a treat this year! Former Stargate SG-1 leading man Richard Dean Anderson ("Jack O'Neill") is jumpstarting the rest of his career with a new commercial for MasterCard. At the end of December he shot the commercial for their "Priceless" campaign, which is now set to air during Super Bowl XL on Sunday, February 5.
  
  In the ad Anderson slides down a wire, drives a semi truck through a fence, and blows up a building -- then is found in a convenience store purchasing replacements for all the things he used to make his escape "priceless." The actor filmed a 30-second and 60-second version to begin airing in regular rotation in March.

  • Well... I FINALLY got my SEA MONSTER episode.... kind of. LOL! O.k... Here's my take on last night's shows that I finally got to watch tonight.... Stargate SG-1: ~sigh~ I want sooooo very much to like this show again. And then they show a preview of the Monday Marathon shows... and it just serves to REMIND me how GOOD the old shows are and how.... well... uninteresting ~heavy, HEAVY sigh~ the new episodes are. I'm not giving up yet, but.. oy. NEXT... Atlantis. I continue to like this show more then Stargate SG-1. At least more then the NEW SG-1. And I DID get my sea monster episode...sort of ... a little bit.... Oh o.k. so a whale swam by but STILL. LOL! Anyway, I like the episode o.k.... but I was thinking it was going to be way funnier. I'm finding I'm disappointed if they don't have a lot of Sheppard in the eps and also I was definitely looking for Carson. Oh well. I have to agree w/ Kat.     • I really hate to agree with you, not because it's you, ya know, just that I *really* want to like SG1 again. I like Ben Browder and don't mind his character, but a lot of the lines and mannerisms appear to have been created for RDA and Jack and that Ben is just a pale shadow of what could be. I don't know if it's just me, but does it appear that all the actors on SG1 seem to be kinda walking through their parts? AT's role on Atlantis showed more spirit and fun than I've seen out of Sam on SG1 in ages. Even last week's ep with the 16 different Sams didn't seem to give her anything to play with.     • I had a hard time with the memory rewind and slowmo thing too. I was like "WHAT??!?" Other than that, it was an okay episode. Some of Mitchell's snarky lines seemed to have been written for RDA, but Ben just doesn't have the oomph to pull it off the same way. Oh well. As for Atlantis, LOVED it. Shep with a beard. Nearly shirtless Shep. Snarky Rodney being snarkilicious. Loved his line at the end, "What's with you and ascended women?" and Shep's slight open hand shrug.           • Some roles are made for some actors and when they move on, we continue to expect the same level of intensity and drive, but often it doesn't materialize. Key example (for me, anyway) is Avery Brooks. He was amazing as Hawk in "Spencer For Hire", but lacked a lot of oomph as the captain of Deep Space Nine.   The elderly parking lot attendant wasn't in a good mood. Neither was Sam Bierstock. It was around 1 a.m., and Bierstock, a Delray Beach, Fla., eye doctor, business consultant, corporate speaker and musician, was bone tired after appearing at an event. He pulled up in his car, and the parking attendant began to speak.
  
  "I took two bullets for this country and look what I'm doing," he said bitterly. At first, Bierstock didn't know what to say to the World War II veteran. But he rolled down his window and told the man, "Really, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you." Then the old soldier began to cry. "That really got to me," Bierstock says.
  
  Bierstock, 58, and John Melnick, 54, of Pompano Beach - a member of Bierstock's band, Dr. Sam and the Managed Care Band - have written a song inspired by that old soldier in the airport parking lot. The mournful "Before You Go" does more than salute those who fought in WWII. It encourages people to go out of their way to thank the aging warriors before they die. "If we had lost that particular war, our whole way of life would have been shot," says Bierstock, who plays harmonica. "Every ethnic minority would be dead. And the old vets are now dying at the rate of about 2,000 every day. I thought we needed to thank them."
  
  The song is striking a chord. Within four days of Bierstock placing it on the Web, the song and accompanying photo essay have bounced around nine countries, producing tears and heartfelt thanks from veterans, their sons and daughters and grandchildren. "It made me cry," wrote one veteran's son. Another sent an e-mail saying that only after his father consumed several glasses of wine would he discuss "the unspeakable horrors" he and other soldiers had witnessed in places such as Anzio, Iwo Jima, Bataan and Omaha Beach. "I can never thank them enough," the son wrote. "Thank you for thinking about them."
  
  Bierstock and Melnick thought about shipping it off to a professional singer, maybe a Lee Greenwood type, but because time was running out for so many veterans, they decided it was best to release it quickly, for free, on the Web. They've sent the song to Sen. John McCain and others in Washington. Already they have been invited to perform it in Houston for a Veterans Day tribute - this after just a few days on the Web. They hope every veteran in America gets a chance to hear it.

  • Amen again. The college where I work (also where I graduated from) has a WWII class every other year. I took it one year and have auditted (that spelling doensn't look right) it twice since then. We have veterans (even one from the German army, and Holocaust survivors and 'Rosie' Girls) come in and speak for class periods and it's amazing to see them. It's sad that in the five years since I first took it how many we have lost including a four star general who just passed away in Dec. He was in Casablanca, at Normandy and in the room when Patton slapped that guy and got in so much trouble for it and he was just amazing. I'm scared for next year when more of them are gone.     • My uncle was at Normandy. He's traveled to France several times to meet up with the surviving members of his squadron and to honor the men they lost over there. He rarely talks about his experiences, but I remember every day what he gave to us and the US. My aunt (his wife) served as a nurse as well. Unfortunately I dropped out of school and lost my spot at Officers school and later failed to pass medical muster when I tried to enlist a few years later.   Okay, so SG-1 and scary Priors... hmm...I'm not sure how I feel about how they resolved the plague and such - seemed to me that this second part kinda fizzled. HOWEVER, I loved Daniel's "Oh yay" when Mitchell hands him the remote. Just the delivery of that line. Other parts I liked included the conversation between Teal'c and Garak at that battlesite, the confrontation between the prior and Orlin and the gang. The Ori storyline just gives me the shivers though
  So, does anyone else think that when the Ori and Ancients finally fight that there's gonna be a whole lot of nastiness goin' down?
  
  
  On the other hand, Atlantis had a much better pace. Things I liked: The knife throwing, McKay-on-Wraith-speed, Sheppard catching on to the Wraith-worshipping-girl's line of questioning , the introduction of rivalries between hives and their queens , the space battle , Ronon's handy-dandy Wraith-shootin'-gun , the clown reference
  
  I just adored Sheppard's "When I do, it'll be impressive" line.

  • Atlantis: I liked it. I like Sheppard. He reminds me of Jack. Rodney still remains a hoot. I'm WARMING UP to Ronan but am still wishing and hoping he will cut that hideous hair. Ew. Anyway, the knife scene and then Sheppard latter asking the girl if she had any because in his last cell EVERYONE did was too funny. Also the send in the clowns thing. I thought I'd die laughing.   • Overall, I liked SciFi Friday. There was a lot of humor in the Stargate episodes from the Daniel/Mitchell glee over who was going to be guinea pig to Sheppard's snark about the knives. Did anyone else think that Weir was going to hug Sheppard when he finally got back to Atlantis? I don't know what's going to happen to Orin, but my feeling is he'll be left a young boy to grow up on Earth. I don't know the real reason why the prior got his powers back, even marginally, but I'll be willing to accept a "he was pissed and was able to break the forcefield breaker" type of thing.     • I didn't see this one, but there have been MANY times I've watched a show... often Stargate... that REALLY REMINDED ME of another episode of another show. I don't think they really do it intentionally... and I don't even mind it, really. But.. I do think it's done. Sometimes they do it w/ a NOD to the other show. Sometimes they draw references and even point them out good naturedly. The Wizard of Oz, Star Wars, Star Trek... the SG shows use these on a regular basis. As far as the STORIES being the same... yes. I've also noticed similarities. Not sure how they get away with that with but... I suppose they do.   I just got this from a friend in the Sony TV division.
  
  In support of this Friday's Winter season premieres of both STARGATE SG-1 and STARGATE ATLANTIS, the SciFi channel has produced a series of creative on-air spots celebrating "The Return of The Gates!"
  
  The link below will take you to an action-filled, 30 second clip driven spot as well as three creative (and humorous!) 25 second original shoot spots.
  
  These are currently running in heavy rotation on SciFi's air.

    • I tried to convert it to a quicktime movie, but I couldn't. It should play in your Windows Media Player without needing any additional software.   Actors on successful, long-running shows sometimes worry about being typecast, while actors not on successful, long-running shows sometimes wish they had the luxury of worrying about being typecast.
  Michael Shanks, who plays spacefaring archaeologist and linguist Dr. Daniel Jackson on Sci Fi Channel's "Stargate SG-1," has adopted a "no worries" philosophy.
  
  His show, shot in Vancouver, Canada, returns for the second half of its ninth season on Friday, Jan. 6 -- followed by rest of season two of its successful spin-off, "Stargate Atlantis" -- and has already been renewed for a 10th season. This make it the longest-running science-fiction drama on U.S. television, surpassing "The X-Files" and all the versions of "Star Trek."

    • Nice article. Wow. TEN seasons. I remember when it was on Showtime. I paid to get Showtime JUST so I could watch Stargate. THen Showtime became so hideous I could not justify supporting it. I ended up cancelling and missed the second season. It about killed me. LOL! I was SOOOO happy when they switched it to SCI-FI. Even HAPPIER when I realized SCI-FI was in my basic cable package!     • LOL! Aren't they the cutest things? I suppose once a farmer, always a farmer. I CAN'T HELP MYSELF! The only reason we don't have cattle is I'd have 20 year old pet steers in my back yard. When I was a kid my "pets" eventually were eaten or sent to market. Sheep, pigs, cows, chickens, rabbits. But NOW... no no no no no. Everyone is a pet and REMAINS that way. My sister keeps wanting me to give her some of my chickens to EAT! I told her she was a cannibal and wasn't getting NEAR my chickens! LOL! Btw, Child O Mine just got two baby Guinea Pigs. LOL!   About a month ago I was over at GATEWORLD and they had a site featured that you could go to and get plot summaries of all the Atlantis (and I believe SG-1) upcoming episodes. The summaries were pretty much complete so if you didn't want to have upcoming episodes spoiled, you didn't want to read them. ANYWAY, I DID read them and was going to go back and look to see if they had any new ones up but can't find the site anymore. I don't know what the name of it was and I can't find any mention of it over at GATEWORLD anymore.... it may have been too long ago. Of course it could also be I'm just not looking on the right page. Gateworld has a LOT of stuff up.
  
  ANYWAY, if any of you folks know what I'm talking about and have the addy to this site I'd appreciate it.

• Howdy, everyone! Gosh, I haven't been here in soooo long! My computer has been down and out for close to six months now; good thing I'm not really a computer junkie!
