Casablanca: an impressive stallion. Tall, muscular, a dark and handsome stranger. His shadow walks before him; the sun is at his back, warming his muscular haunches. Hooves, the size of dinner plates, leave no crescent shaped impressions in the yielding soil as he passes. He walks lightly. His tail, a brilliant black cascade, is held high. It plumes in the cool air, snapping like a flag. It is his banner, for he is a king. His kingdom is this place, a vast expanse of verdant fields and forest and mountains. A gentle breeze sighs through the feathery limbs of nearby coniferous trees. He pauses, ears tipped towards the sound of the tree. It is their voice, their lament. He hears, and listens. His neck is arched regally. The wind tousles his mane, flirting with pricked ears and gifting them with faraway sounds. He silently claims the terra firma on which he stands, knowing eyes leisurely taking in their surroundings.
