Subject: I'm scared

Thanks everyone for giving me tips and saying prayers. Rita is now a catagory 5 hurricane. She is strong and very powerful. It's been a very long time since one like this has made landfall anywhere. It really hard to get any supplies now. I started out on Monday and got what I needed before everyone else panicked. Thank goodness I did! You can't get water, bread, and very little can goods. No ice no coolers left. It's a complete nightmare here. Most of the cities south of Houston are asking people to leave because of storm surge and flooding. I'm north east of Houston right on Lake Houston out of the flood area but still it is possible to get some water here in the house. What worries me the most is the high winds and tall trees that break off like tooth picks. Leaving now is really not what we plan to do. The roads are backed up. Getting hotels are as far away as a six hour drive. Jim wanted me to leave with Sarah this morning on a plane out of here. I refused to leave him and my birds behind. Family sticks together or leaves together.
OK I won't have any more time to post since I have several other things to get in order here. I may not have power for up to five weeks. So I will be in touch when I can.
