ok, well I'll give you my best advice, from what I've read and what I've learned from breeders. I've weaned two birds so far, and I've learned a lot more since. Take it or leave it.

pull the seed dish execpt after the evening hand feeding. Put bite sized chopped fruits/ veggies, go to a health food store and either buy sprouting supplies, or 'crunchy sprouts' He won't learn to eat other food if it isn't offered all the time. And if his favored seeds are there, he'll pass the veggies too.

Buy a thermometer and a scale that can Tare, and weighs in grams, you can find both at Walmart. Your vet, and any info on the web will be in grams. And a differnce between 109 and 112 degrees in the food can burn the crop.

Oatmael is fine occasionally, but if you're still handfeeding, he's probably getting too much iron. The formula already has enough iron and oatmeal is high in it.

But sweetening it with juice is only adding sugar to his diet. I'll find a reipe for some mash for you to try.
