The so-called ‘bailout’ or ‘rescue’ plan was nothing more than outright theft…on an almost unimaginable scale – a robbery carried out against the adamantly expressed wishes of the American people. But our ‘leaders’ no longer care what we think, nor or they the least bit concerned with governing in our interests. They think they can simply act with impunity, seemingly secure in the knowledge that we’ll continue to re-elect them regardless of their outrages. To a large extent they’re absolutely right.

This country has suffered terribly under the ‘leadership’ of George Bush these last eight years. Yet the real tragedy here is that his opponents – to whatever small extent they may have disagreed with him on anything of substance – wouldn’t and couldn’t have done any better. The country that once produced such men as Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, or even JFK, has been reduced to the likes of Obama and McCain. Not that his is anything new. Every goddamn election cycle I figure our ‘choices’ can’t possibly get any worse. And every election cycle I’m proven wrong yet again. I’m disgusted to the point of near apathy. I still follow the news out of force of habit I suppose, but I know it doesn’t make a damn bit of difference.
