My groundhog hunting buddy – who just happens to have a weird knack for finding crazed and possibly rabid little forest creatures. So one day, we’re standing out in the middle of this barren, freshly plowed field, scouting out new hog holes. I was probably 50 yards away from him at the time. This farmer’s field was bordered by woods on one side. So I’m looking back at my friend – and consequently towards the woods – when I see this little squirrel comes running out of the woods right towards my friend. I pointed towards the squirrel and he turned around to look at it too. It kept coming. Matter of fact, it quickly became apparent that it really wanted a piece of my buddy. He lifted his rifle. The squirrel kept coming. He flicked off the safety. The squirrel kept coming. I stuck my fingers in my ear. BLAM! The foul tempered little bugger took a .308 in its fuzzy little face at maybe ten yards or so. My buddy’s pretty good at those snap shots.
