Seriously 'though, no movement/use is a tell tale sign or New/Extra joints too. Fractures will show up later when new bone starts to form, the bone sort of casts itself forming new layers around the injury. You will certainly notice the extra bone in a finger, but it will be stripped away somewhat leaving only a bone scar after after a while.

Most likely you injured other soft tissues like a ligament or tendon which are on or near joints. Mild swelling is normal - it's the body responding to begin healing. Dark discoloring/bruising is caused by damage to blood vessels.
