Hi folks, this is one story that I did recently. It is interesting for it describes the pscyhe of Patels, one of the influential Gujarati communities. With an alarming sex ration and falling number of girls, due to a patriarchal set-up and also dowry woes_ Patels woke up to the problem. And in a mammoth gathering in Surat, their New Year vow was saying no to female foeticide.

Falling number of girls is but not just a Gujarati problem, it is also predominant in North, worse in Punjab and Haryana. I wonder what is the trend amongst NRI Gujaratis in this context.
