Hi Dan,
All pheasants are usually quiet until breeding season, which happens to be now.Their breeding season starts in feb.Their noises are so unique,I think people wouldn't complain.
If you go to www.gbwf.org,you can get all the info you need on all pheasant species.Click on pheasants and peafowl, and then go to the breed you desire.Red goldens are very easy to raise and can be tame enough to eat out of your hand. All pheasants require a covered pen as they will fly.You could cut the flight feathers, but I am not a believer in that, plus it will grow back and by the time you notice it the bird is outside of the pen.
I do have 2 pairs left from the 2006 season. They will breed this year, but do not have full color. They will have full color this fall.
In N.H.,Tony.
