Pandora 700 Raceboat Project For Sale.
As is usually the case I have started something which I will never get round to finishing! I bought the boat in 2006 with the full intention of completing a full rebuild to raceboat standard.
To give you an idea of the extent I was going to, the keel is off, has been shotblasted, faired and coated with about 10 layers of VC tar which is awesome stuff.
The rudder is missing, but I have a contact who produces rudder castings for the 700 to a very high standard, and a rudder would be easy to produce from a template from another 700.
The hull has had all the antifouling shotblasted off ready for a fresh coat of new racing antifouling. All the skin fittings have been removed and are ready to be glassed over, as there is no need for a toilet when you're racing!
The interior has been done away with, no creature comforts, although the sink is still there!
The hull will need to be resprayed and the deck will need to be fully fitted out with deck hardware, none of which is included.
There is a mast included, it's a brand new Z spars unit complete with spreaders, mast foot, turning blocks for the base etc, and it comes with a boom as well. Both items are still brand new and in bags and have been stored indoors for a year since I bought them.
There are two sails, a main and a genoa. The genoa is a North Sails one which has seen very little use and would fit on a tuffluff foil or a roller furler. The mainsail is BRAND NEW, it has never been out of its bag and has been stored in my sail loft for the last couple of years.
There is a trailer with the boat, it is a powerboat trailer and the boat sits well on it without the keel and it would be ideal as a yard trailer whilst painting and fitting out the boat. Please note that it will not fit the boat when the keel is fitted and you will then need either a proper fin keel trailer or a cradle.
All in all a nice little winter project for someone with a bit of time on their hands. I am positive that this would make a good racer, but I just don't have the time unfortunately.
I might consider splitting all the components, but I'd rather see the whole lot go to a good home.
Priced at a fraction of the total cost. £2000
Based in North Wales.
