Date Posted: 17:57:27 04/12/08 Sat Elyse Wojciechowski, Oak Creek, succeeded Cassandra Allen as Miss St. Francis 2008. She was sponsored by St. Francis Lions Club, won the $2,500 scholarship and the $100 Pageant Promotion Ad Sales Award, in addition gift and services packages from Andare Fitness and From Hair On salon, and other gifts totaling over $3,000. Elyse will represent the St. Francis area at the Miss Wisconsin Pageant June 15-21, in Oshkosh, WI and in many area public events throughout the year 1st Runner up and winner of a $1,500 scholarship was Tonya Popowski, sponsored by ESI Consulting from Cudahy. Katelyn Colvin of Cudahy, sponsored by Beer Belly’s Food & Spirits was named 2nd Runner Up and won a $1,000 scholarship. All other contestants were awarded a $300 scholarship, they were Justine Gestwicki (Cudahy) sponsored by National City Bank, Ann Hancock (South Milwaukee) sponsored by Advance Products, Mary Kappus (Cudahy) sponsored by Bella Grace Tanning Salon, Stephanie Obst (St. Francis) sponsored by St. Francis Dental Center, Justine Swenson (South Milwaukee) sponsored by PDQ Tooling and Dawn Wozniarski (Oak Creek) sponsored by Dom & Phil’s DeMarinis Pizza. In addition to the above, special scholarship awards were presented as follows: Mary Kappus - Rob Schneider Interview ($200) and Memorial ($100) Awards; Joanne Gestwicki - Robert R. Date Posted: 08:39:36 09/22/07 Sat To all Local Pageant contestants in the Miss America Organization: Congratulations on becoming involved with the one of the nations leading achievement programs and the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Last year the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 Million in scholarship assistance. Beginning in 2007, Miss America has developed a National Platform and has partnered with Children’s Miracle Network – an alliance of children’s hospitals. Children’s Miracle Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals across North America. Each year the 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals provide the finest medical care, life-saving research and preventative education to help millions of kids overcome diseases and injuries of every kind. This National Platform starts at the Local Pageants with the 2008 pageant year (those locals that start in calendar year 2007 and the winners go to the State 2008 Pageants). Each contestant is asked to register on-line at MissAmerica4Kids.org. At the bottom of the first screen is a button labeled “New Contestants - click here”. Press that button and you are on your way. It will take you only 5 minutes to register. Your expected minimum goal is $100 for each local pageant level, but you may select a higher goal. This minimum local pageant goal of $100 is for the National Platform which is very similar to the personal platform that you may have. Then once you save the information and upload a picture if you want to, click on “Send emails” on the left hand side and enter email addresses to send to your friends and family. (Hint: send one email to yourself at your email address, then add a personal note to that email and forward this email to as many as you like within your own email system.) The funds raised are under your name and roll-over to qualify you for future pageants. It is as simple as that. You may track your progress and see how you are doing. The more emails you send, the more funds you raise for both of these great organizations. We would like you to consider participating as a contestant. The Miss St. Francis Pageant is an Official Preliminary to the Miss Wisconsin and the Miss America Pageants. It will be held on Saturday, Apri1 14, 2007 at Thomas More High School. Scholarships and awards will be offered to ALL PARTICIPANTS. The competition will follow Miss America guidelines which require that a contestant participate in four areas of judging: Private Interview (25%), Talent (35%), Evening Wear (20%), Swimsuit (15%) and On-Stage Interview (5%). In addition to the scholarships and valuable experience, the winner of the Miss St. Francis Pageant will be eligible to complete for additional scholarships and the title of Miss Wisconsin in Oshkosh - June 24-30, 2007. Date Posted: 16:32:38 11/01/05 Tue I just wanted to let everyone know that if they qualify with residency requirements, they should definitely enter the Miss St. Francis Pageant! I have had the time of my life; it is the BEST thing I have ever done. The people of the City of St. Francis are incredible and supportive. There are so many events where you can represent your title, and the pageant directors and staff are amazing. I will never forget this year, and I'm getting sad, and it's only a little more than halfway into my year! The work that George George does to get sponsors for this program is impressive. Just by entering, you get scholarship money, not to mention the great girls you get to meet and hopefully keep in touch with after the pageant. It's so great to be able to see the sponsors throughout the year, too. This is definitely a "hands-on" local ... you really get to know everyone who puts all their efforts into it and they become your friends for life. I am so grateful to the City of St. Francis and to everyone who works so hard to provide this opportunity for young women.
