I have a little girl who is 1 year old ever since she was born people have told me to put her in pageants and commercials so i did
she has black hair and beautiful blue eyes and never has won a pagean as a matter of fact she has always come in last place, she has been in 4 americas gorgeous girl competitions, 1 pretty by nature and 1 other, is americas gorgeous girls good or bad because every time i have been the same people seem to win and everyone knows eachother, if the judge could help please do, I put her hair up or just back in a bow and even tried in a headband, her first 3 pageants i just had really beautiful bouncy dresses and felt way outta place but i really feel it should be based on facial beauty, will a judge ever pass up the vote on a beautiful child and let a beautiful dressed child win first
PLEASE HELP, because i dont wanna stop putting her in pageants but i get very upset and i do not have a whole lotta money????????????????

Would whoever posted about World Crown not being on the up and up please tell me why they think so? Because I'm going to be spending alot of money going to their mini national next weekend, and if it's not going to be fair, then i'd rather not go and spend so much money. Please tell me. I would have asked sooner, but I had heard they were very fair so I didn't feel the need to, plus, we had went to a prelim, and did very well there and had never even laid eyes on the director/s in my life! Please tell what you know!

I am doing a state and national in a few weeks (they are two weeks apart). What do you guys suggest for an 18 y/o? I have hair almost to be toushy :) It is extremely hard to curl, and when I do curl it, it won't stay. I can do pageant poofs in front... what do you y'all suggest? Oh, this is a semi-glitz pageant. I am wearing a custom gown that is technically strapless (it has one funky strap). Thank you for any advice!

How important is the group line up in a pageant? Do the judges pick their winner right then? Also, is it better to be first out or last out? I mean if you are first how do you score not knowing what is to follow....do you ever go back and change scores or is it just tough luck? Thanks!!!

My question is in regard to the question posted on judging for the line-up. I might get different opinions on this, but I would like to hear all of them. When it does come to judging the girls during line-up for side events, do you recommend the girls stand poised or should they wave to the judges? I am talking about 5-6 yr. olds. I know personality is getting judged during this time. My daughters stand poised and smile, and they have won some and lost some to other girls who waved the whole time. Thanks

Hi guys!
Got a few questions for you all! My friend and I have been throwing around the idea of starting our own pageant for quite a while now. We need some info from everyone!
1. What are you looking for in prizes?
2. What is the idea price for a prelim, regional,
state, mini-national, and national
3. How far are you willing to travel for a pageant?
(We are going to start in KY, but plan on branching out to surrounding states)
4. Do you like it when pageants double-crown?
5. Do you like glitz or sunday best?
6. What catagories would you like to see at a pageant?
7. What catagories do you wish the directors would
just leave out?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my survey and if you would like me to add you to the mailing list, please email me you info!
Thanks a bunch!!

If you want to learn pro-am I can direct you to some coaches and verbally explain some moves. If you or some you know has questions feel to e-mail me.

I was just wondering why a very photogenic child with unretouched photo's that look exactly like the child always loses to digital pictures that do not even look like the child?
My child's photo's look exactly like my child and do not have a single stroke of retouching on them and they are awesome photo's, judges even complement on them, but they always lose to the digital photo's of the kids that look nothing like the child in the photo.
Seems to me like photogenic in a pageant is not photogenic at all. It has become a contest to see who has the best digital work, the photographer should win that award.
Just a question from a mom that has been around awhile.

Thanks Anna on the advice for the glue gun. Now I wanted to ask is there a certain size that is more popular with the rhinestones? I was going to go with the 12SS.
Also, I bought some little satin flowers that have a glitter spray on them, which I thought would sparkle on stage. I was going to put some of these on the skirt and maybe a few on the sleeves and top. Is there a right and wrong way? Do people just put them on according to what they think would add to the dress? What I mean is I have seen dresses with pearls on the skirt but not really flowers. These are little flowers. I need some opinions and advice, cause this is the first time I have added anything to a dress. Thanks

I am going to be entering my daughter in an upcoming pageant. She has only done a few. My question is, and I am hoping to get the Southern judges opinion as well as some parents, if you were to judge just a preliminary, would you pick what probably would be the most expensive dress. This will be the first time she is going to wear this dress. It is a couple years old, and although it wasn't cheap, I know they go for a lot more. The pageant is in Kentucky. The color looks great on her, but it does not have the see through sleeves like I am seeing on different sites. It is a National level dress, but because we are still so new, I was not sure how quick something becomes outdated. I need a judges opinion, but also I really would like to here from some Moms on your own experiences. Thanks.

Date Posted: 00:01:18 03/21/01 Wed

I HAVE BEEN SHOCKED AT SOME OF THE ADVICE GIVEN BY SOME PEOPLE THAT ARE TRYING TO BE HELPFUL. PLEASE DON'T LISTEN TO JUST ANYONE. EVERY PART OF THE COUNTRY IS DIFFERENT, BUT ALOT OF ADVICE GIVEN ON THIS BOARD WOULD KILL YOU IN A NATIONAL IN THE SOUTH. YOUR BEST BET IS TO LEARN WHAT IS "IN" IN YOUR PART OF THE COUNTRY THEN SEEK ADVICE FROM SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IN YOUR AREA. MY ADVICE FOR SOUTHERN CONTESTANTS GET A COACH, GET A HAIR & MAKE-UP PERSON. GET TOP OF THE LINE PAGANT CLOTHES. THIS MAY SOUND HARSH TO YOU, BUT I AM BEING HONEST. SOUTHERN COMPETITION IS TOUGH AND LOADED WITH TOP OF THE LINE GIRLS. THERE ARE VERY FEW PAGEANTS IN THE SOUTH THAT ARE THE EXCEPTION TO WHAT I AM TELLING YOU. I WILL COME BACK SOON TO SEE IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN THE THINGS I TELL YOU. IF YOU ARE NEXT TIME I WILL GIVE YOU SOME NAMES OF CLOTHING MAKERS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, COACHES AND HAIR & MAKE-UP PEOPLE. PAGEANTS ARE A VERY EXPENSIVE HOBBY. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL NO MATTER WHAT PATH YOU MAY TRAVE. A NATIONAL JUDGE.

I have a website that has all kinds of helpful information that might help answer some of your questions, such as how to roll pageant hair, make-up tips, plus many links and lots of other fun stuff...Check it out at www.IvyAriana.homestead.com, and please don't forget to sign the guestbook!
Plus while we are asking questions...I have a two year old, and, want her to have the "pageant hair" look but can not seem to bring myself to use hot rollers on her...Does any one know of any way else to get the look, without the heat? I've tried regular rollers and they just don't seem to be working!

we have done about 30 pageants in the last 3 years and my daughter has done fairly well, but her hair i think has been what holds her back. i just don't know how to properly roll hair you know so there's little rows all the waydown the head, and there's no space in-between. could someone please e-mail me with very detailed instructions on how to roll hair, and also, what rollers to use and what if any seting spray should i use. thanks so very much

Has anyone ever hosted a pageant? When they say the more people that get entered the better you are reward, what kind of rewards? Can your child be in the pageant too? If anyone has ever done this please respond.

I have read a few times on message boards that if you didn't want to spend a lot of money on coaches, you could purchase tapes. Where can these tapes be purchased? I am not sure if I want to put a lot of money into this, but I have years of experience with dancing, and I feel I could teach my child what to do if I had a concept of what they do in pro-am or sportswear. When I have asked directors before what they do, I have been told the best way to learn is to do a State pageant, but this would just be throwing money away, since my daughter couldn't compete at that stage. She does very well when it comes to modeling, and has won Supreme or Mini-Supreme on three out of four pageants, so I was hoping I could teach her what to do in order to compete at the next level. I need the experienced people to give me help. Thanks

my daughter is 14, and at the time she was 13 and we went to the stylist to get a trim. well, much to my surprise, she cut off over 8" of hair!! her hair was just above her shouldersand i thought it looked really cute. tha following april, we did a regional, state and a national. she won grand supreme at every one. i think with the odler girls they want more of a sophisticated and elegant look rather than a huge pouf with long curly hair. i think the any hair length can win, it juast has to be done right, and it has to suit the child.

I have a daughter that is 4yrs. old, and she has only done a few pageants. She decided she wanted to be a beautician one day, and gave herself a nice haircut. Once I was done crying, I was able to laugh at it, and I guess I will be for the next six months while it evens out. It wouldn't have been bad if she didn't take a big chop right passed her ears. The stylist probably had to cut 7 inches to even it out somewhat. (AH). Actually, now, her hair cut is a very hip little bob, but my question is, Is short hair out for that age group? She hasn't done any pageants since Dec., but we are going to start doing them again in the Spring. She will be 5 by then. I see people refer to hair extensions. I was wondering if this was because they wanted the longer hair effect or it was almost a necessity in order to compete. Can short hair little girls win? Thanks
