>I was in Ardale from late 61 till march 63 i was in the last house on the right, the house master was mr allen who also taught bricklaying[we called him alleyrat],ithink the house was called nelson but im not sure. after about a year i had a bust up with alleyrat and he threw me out of the house,i ended up in livingstone, one of the larger houses.i think the housemaster there was mr cooper. i was fortunate to make friends with the three daddies when i first got there, unlike the lad who arrived the same day as me[when we went to the dorms the made him stand against a wall and threw darts at his chest.my new mates told me to join the plastering shop because the man who taught plastering was an easy touch. icant remember his real name but we called him percy bonkeye. i took to plastering like a duck to water and did 5 days a week and no school every one else did either 3 days trade and 2 days school or vise versa. i remember plastering out the changing rooms there. when i left ardale the plastering teacher got me a job with his dad in london.when i went to ardale it was geared up to getting out in a year[9 months if you were really good] i ended up doing 16 months because i couldnt keep my mouth shut.funny enough i look back fondly at my time in ardale we used to have good fun there a remember much detail, did a lot of schoolwork
>(and got a RSA Cert), slept in a converted dormitory
