I have just come across this site, I read about Chris and can relate to him, even though there was 10 years between us. I was at Desford 1961-1963, I was there with my elder brother. I was put in Quorn house, housemaster and sadist Mr Jones, also the same name shared by Headmaster, who my opinion was a vicious disciplinarian, with no real humanity. Mr Crowe, with large glasses was more flexible. I, like Chris have nothing but bad memories, I was luckier than some, my brother was my protector, and probably saved from many fights. I like Chris was at Redhill, Kidlington detention centre, Wellingborough borstal. Apart from getting sent to desford, effectively by my father, I was master of my own destiny, I just had no one to guide me thus my career in HM institutions, eventually ending in 1970, when I not the system, decided I d had enough.
