Subject: Approved School

Hi
I was sent to The Boys Farm Home in 1943=1946 time Surrey nr Godstone.
for truancy it was quite strict there however I remember every evening after supper the headmaster used to read Bulldog Drumond to the whole school in the dining hall.
When you first arrive at the school you went into the classrooms, then after a while we went onto the farm to work all aspects of farmwork milking by hand no machines then.
I can still remember we had an open air swimming pool where we had life saving lessons and got my certificates.
There was also an old boy who was in the Airborne Regt he used to come and spend his leave there.
It didn't do me any harm being there became a much better person for it.
Dave
