Subject: Legal representation

I was sent to an Approved School back in the late 50's or early 60's (can't remember exactly). I was sent down because I was a persistant absconder from children's homes. The council took me before the Juvenile Court who put me away. I have only recently realised that I had no representation at the court, no mouthpiece or anyone else on my side to speak for me.

Was this common in those days for the courts to send children to Approved Schools without anyone representing the interests of the child.
