六十歲又稱「還曆」，以一甲子歲曆迴環之意也。日本學者今尚存古意，耆宿六十之壽，門人朋友則為文集賀之，稱「還曆紀念」。著名者有青木正兒六十大壽，鈴木豹軒等諸大師即為之撰文六十篇，論中華人物，結集成書，稱《青木正兒博士還曆記念中華六十名家言行錄》。

又以上七八九十歲諸稱典故未詳，還請各方賢達指教。

一時心癢，即覓其典故，供各位指正。

「古稀」出杜甫〈曲江〉二首其一：「酒債尋常行處有，人生七十古來稀」
「杖國」出《禮記．王制》：「七十杖于國」，又謂「七十致仕」。「致仕」即退休之意，也即「縣車」出處（縣車而不用，退休）。「從心」即出《論語》。
「朝杖」出處同：「八十杖於朝」。

又省起，耄為八十而耋彆為九十，然出處忘之。
